Title: air pressure
Post by: bigbore2 on January 13, 2012, 11:29:15 AM
Just wondering what you recommend as far a tire pressure goes front/rear.  The manual says 26 front and up to 36 rear depending on weight of load.  26 seems a little low?  What do you guys run.  Both my tires are Michelin. I can get the size if needed. Stock rims [16"], I believe.

No, you have misread, 36psi front and 38-42psi rear.  26 psi is much too low for the front.

We have free owners manual's you can download in the Files section.

I typically run 38-40 in the front, and 42 rear ALL THE TIME.  Hard tires don't squirm, and will not cup as soon.

YMMV

Hey Ed,
Do you use Amsoil motorcycle specific air in your tires?  :-)

Personally, I run the semi-synthetic radial air in my tires.  36 front, 43 rear

Be aware that you can't mix bias ply and radial air in the same tire.

Thanx for the info.  I will increase to 36 front and 40 rear to start.  It has been a while since I been on a road bike, still learning, but thanx to all. I love this site!
