Title: yzf rear wheel mod question
Post by: Fred on July 03, 2009, 01:48:44 PM
I"ve started my rear wheel mod and I can't get the studs out of the cush drive. I sent it to my machinist anyway hoping he'd be able to get them out. No luck with that.  I tried using two nuts to break it loose, is there another way? is ok to heat the studss?

TIA.

Late response:

Take a propane torch, set it to WOT, and play it over the base of the stud and the surrounding area.

Count to 90s in your head while doing this.

When you're done counting, apply force to the doublenuts that you put on it prior.

Will come right out.

Thanks to Jon Cain, the god of the YZF swap, for teaching me this.  I belive his exact words were "jumpin jack spit hot".
