This is the petcock off of my '87 FJ. I'm not sure if this is the "electronic reserve" type petcock or if the PO put on an earlier one.

If someone could let me know I'd appreciate it. I bought the Kawasaki O-ring, but when I got it off the bike a see that it is selectable, it makes me think that maybe the PO had already changed it to a different one.
Thanks,
Kurt
Looks like the petcock from the later (fuel pump models) FJ's
Since it has been working on my bike, I guess I'll just leave it alone.
I had experienced some fuel leakage, but I think that was due to a stuck float.
I guess I'll just leave it alone and keep my ears open for a board member with an '86 or '87 that needs an O-ring.
Thanks for your help.
Travis is right (that was hard to say) 89 or later.

I guess it is possible to put an '89 or newer petcock on an older tank.
Should I post pics of how he has this rigged up? Or is it something that you guys don't recommend be attempted?
Did someone change the tank?
I don't know as I have nothing to compare it to.

I'm beginning to think this might be more of a "Franken-bike" than I had hoped.

Kurt, the bottom of your gas tank is identical to my 84/fj1100, and your petcock is definitely not from 84-85.
That is a late-model, fuel pump equipped FJ, the bolt pattern is different so you probably have a late-model tank, as well....
I guess the name I gave the bike, "Orange Abomination", is appropriate. It's certainly better that what it was called before. There was a sticker of a hula girl and "HAWAIIAN PUNCH" on the rear cowl.
Now I feel better about my plan to slap a satin black Rustoleum paint job on it.
