Title: 1984 FJ1100 Tune up!
Post by: jenos713 on January 09, 2012, 02:53:15 PM
I need a tune up bad. I am looking for someone in central Minnesota (I am in the twin cities) who is reliable and priced decently for a tune up. I am going to buy full carb kits from RPM so I would need those installed as well as a general tune up. Anyone know anyone?

I live an hour south of the Twin Cities (Owatonna), however good luck finding someone you can trust who'll service your bike in the metro for a reasonable fee.  There's some big savings doing it yourself with a service manual, and with a forum like this that has FAQs and pictures and write-ups and all that, there's not much that can't be done.  Any chance you can perform some or all of the work yourself?

Removing and replacing the carbs is not very complicated. You could send them to RPM for rebuild. Plugs, fluids and filters are easy too. I'm not much of wrencher myself but do my own maintenance. Valve adjustment might be intimidating for us wanna be mechanics. If you can find a local guy to at least do this.... it's not needed frequently. Syncing carbs is another thing you may have to farm out unless your willing to get the gadgets required to do it yourself.

Good luck

Do it yourself, you'll be surprised how easy it is.... Even the valves.   Save the :drinks: for after....

Sorry. Should've been more explicit. I sent the email to the original poster.
