Hello. New guy here. My name is Scott Matlock and I'm from Connecticut. I have an 86 FJ. Bought back in 2008. I love that damn bike! Its my first bike ever. I've never ridden a street bike until the FJ and still remains to be the only bike I've ever ridden period. Its awesome. I'm restoring it this winter in my basement and have recently spent alt of money on either rpm's site our ebay. Can't wait. pics are coming soon. That you my new FJ brothers n sisters...
Welcome to a great group Scott. I am also repairing an '86 and these guys are eager to share their wealth of knowledge to keep these bikes on the road. If it wasn't for the advice I get here, I'm sure that my bike would be headed for the scrap heap! I agree with your sediment for the FJ. I haven't ridden a motorcycle for 40 years, then bought a '91 FJ on an impulse, and can't get enough of it. What's better than one FJ...two...can't wait to see if there is any difference riding the '86....Hope to track your progress on this forum.
Welcome Scott
We are having our 3rd annual NEFJ rally in late July in Bethel Maine. You think you like your bike now wait till you ride and party with 10 plus FJ's, brings the meaning of love to a new level.

welcome :hi:
the 86 is a great year.
before you get to far into your restoration project think about a few modifications that will add to the handling of the bike.
check the mods section for ideas.
common mods for the 86 is to put 17" wheels on it for better tire selection and radials .
better brakes as well and the list goes on .
I was happy with my 86 till I attended a FJ rally and saw all the mods and caught the fever.
Hi Scott :hi:
Welcome to the group!
Cheers :drinks:

86 the best looking year! :good:

Wellcome Scott
I agree with Mike: the 86 is the best looking FJ of all!
If you want to keep the 16" front, Avon still sell radial tyres for the rim
gday scott , welcome mate, i would of advised against fixing your fj but its too late, youve caught the bug, and there,s no known cure, just treatments of more mods to help the pain  ,my fj started out as a standard red / white 84 modded before i found this site and things got worse :rofl2:
