Hello all, I need to buy bake pads for my fj1100 and wanted some opinions on what brand to buy. Thanks in advance for any opinions and advice.
Thanks,
Rory
I've had the best results from OEM for the front. Whatever is available for cheap on the rear..... I use my front brakes 99% of the time, rear for settling the chassis into turns and at stoplights or signs, not so much for serious stopping. Under very hard braking, the rear is usually wagging in the breeze....

EBC HH pads will probably get plenty of endorsement around here. A major improvement over standard pads.
I have found that HH pads last longer than the oem organic pads and produce less dust.
For best results when switching from organic to HH slintered pad, a good scrubbing of the rotor to remove the old transfer layer is recommended.
I have some new HH pads for sale which fits the '84-'87 FJ's: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=5575.0 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=5575.0)
I've recently started using a German manufactured pad on both front and rear brakes.
The manufacturer is called Gold Fren.
The pads are ceramic carbon technology.
They are sold here in Aus by Delkevic (the exhaust pipe guys).
They are as good as, if not better than, any pads I have used previously, tho a tad more expensive at $30 per pair.

Like Rich (and several others), I like the OEM pads best on the front (in the blue spots, on YZF600r rotors). I ran out of them last year and used EBC HH. They're okay, but noisy.
Last season, I let the rear pads (YZF600r) get pretty thin (not paying attention), and all the locals had was EBC HH. Way overkill for riding 1-up, but when I have a passenger and throw out the anchor, it really slows down in a hurry! I'll be going back to EBC Black on the rear before the ECSR.
Rory,
You can find the Organic and HH EBC brake pads on my website; www.RPMracingCa.com (http://www.rpmracingca.com)
