So....here's a dilemma......i have 4 grand to spend on my two fj's......one is running and one in pieces.......both could use engine rebuilds; new plastic(although hard to find).......and the endless list of upgrades......they are both stock since new. Question is......where would all of you start.....because with these bikes....4 grand goes fast. The running fj I have I want to keep that stock.....the other I don't care...as long as it runs...........and also would be open to farming out this work in the fj community if possible.........bottom line is I love these bikes and would like get them back in top shape.......any comments or ideas are welcome..........and sorry if I posted this in the wrong place.
1) Part out the '85 you have in pieces.
2) Use $2500 to buy a primo '85 that needs nothing. They are out there.
3) Use the other $1500 for the engine work on your stock runner.
I agree with you 100% ..........i keep watching craigslist and ebay........mainly for parts...but if its a good deal ill always buy another fj...........when I bought my first fj last year there were quite a few on the market......now it seems they are few and far between. Just gotta keep looking..............thanks for the response though.
