Probably time to start making reservations, I was thinking the last weekend in July again. Questions? Comments?
Last weekend in July worked well last year.
For anyone considering it: go.
It's a good time, with some spirited rides (OK, so some of the roads could use a bit of work), and great company.
A few foreigners even show up.
Oh... and most of the riders even bring FJs :good2:

The rally will be held same place as last year? Hope to make the trip this year with freshly restored 86 FJ from Nova Scotia Canada
As of right now there are no thoughts on moving it. Travis and I were talking about that, just last night.
The camp ground owner works with us, Thankfully. :shok:
Bring down another red & white FJ, they are the best looking FJ out there.
Bob W
The NE FJ rally will happen the last weekend in July................ July 27-30 :good2:
The rides will be on the 28th and 29th, possibly an early Friday ride?
Reservations made if you can't make it see ya next year.................
If the Canadians need their private condos again they will have to make their own reservations...........
:drinks:
Is cabin fever keeping everyone from speaking at once? :shok: Are there any rally virgins coming? :drinks: Are the same people coming? :good: Are we going to taken over by Canadians this year? :rofl2:
I don't want to here I can't go, I'm busy that weekend. We are all blowing off stuff to go also.
Open to all, members or not, FJ or not.
Bob W
Fj rally virgin here, as soon as you have firm dates can you post them up Bob?
Pretty sure I can make it, if so I'll be riding my newly restored 84/ 1100.
Thanks,
Chris

Very nice Chris.
Look up 2 post, to Travis's post and you will see that it has been finalized.
Bob W
Chris there will probably be 3 other guys riding in from Ontario, so you won't have to make the trip alone
Last weekend of July :drinks:
I'll be there again this year. Bob & Paul, same arrangements as last year if you guys want. Any other Canadians want to hook up with us let us know.

Another Canadian condo loving virgin here.........couldn't attend last year because CanD was in for mods....wasn't finished until Sept.....but she is ready for this years rally and so am I. I can't speak for the rest of the "strong and free"...but I like to pack light for the longer journeys.......not much fun riding those awesome roads in the northern states with too much luggage....I will probably leave the tent and sleeping bag at home and find me a 5 star cabin in town....lol. Paul has extended the invite, again to me, this year......and I looks good to go........I may want to take a few extra days off work and leave on the Thursday am....and hook up with the rally on the weekend...(anyone is welcome to join me) ....I will definitely get my "go pro" camera mounted for this one....should we bring marshmellows ?how about some good Canadian Scotch Whiskey instead :drinks:.... hehehhehehehe.....
Kev
Well I'm working till 8pm on Thursday so I can't leave till Friday AM. I like to travel light too, I bring a good size tank bag and get Bob & Paul to carry the rest in their givi bags...
Hey CanDman,
In case you didn't know this is the rally campground site at 800 West Bethel Road ...

This is the closest motel at 764 West Bethel Road...

BTW, where is your home base in Ontario?
If any of you guy's want, you can ship the big/heavy things to my house so you don't need to carry as much. I can bring it in the trailer. Pack light ride hard. :shok:
Bob W
Hey! :good2: Maybe the posse heading south will be bigger this year! :drinks:

Yep... I think I will be travelling lighter too. I took too much last year.... I ended up losing a screw out of my wingrack!!!.... if someone would have told me I had a screw loose there wouldn't have been a problem!!!

Thanks for the offer Bob! :good2:
Did someone say posse (popcorn).......... I love the sound of that....Bob what an incredibly kind gesture........if I had more to bring, I would graciously accept your offer.......but I am only bringing a small gym bag.........filled with some marshmellows, Scotch Wiskey, and some real maple syrup.....I was thinking of treating the group to some pancakes and it would be sacreligious to cover them with anything but syrup which hails from the land of the Maple Leaf...........heck, I may bring a couple of Kilos of some Canadian back bacon too.........how's that sound??? :nyam1:
Kev
PS.......I think it would be good on the part of all of us "True North" to show our gracious hosts in the "Land of the Free" what classy guests we are and bring a token gesture of good will.......of course something uniquely Canadian....... :good2:

Hehh A1......are you a Jethro Tull fan? I am.... A1 was an album in the early 80's also found in the song "Too old to rock n roll and too young to die".....thanks for the links....might just check in to the motel...sounds perfect........my home base is North Toronto...and yourself?
CanDman,
I am a fan of Jethro Tull but that is not where my name comes from... I'm in Kingston, if you want to ride down with us the Friday it will go like this...
You would hook up with Bob in Whitby on Thursday evening and drive to Kingston and stay the night at my place, Paul will also meet up with us Thursday night at my place. From there the 4 of us would leave Kingston early in the AM for Maine, probably be picking up a couple more FJs state side on the way. It will be a 10 hour ride from Kingston.
If you want to hold off till Friday and ride with us you are more than welcome to join the group.

I am not sure if everyone's on the same page.. :scratch_one-s_head:.......I think Dan mentioned being at his house some time on Thursday pm........with Paul....and we would spend the night there and then the 4 of us would leave Kingston in the morning of the friday......If we're at Dan's at 9 am thursday, I am not sure what we can do for the whole day in Kingston....maybe shoot a round of golf?....which I would most cerainly enjoy !!! Although that would sort of clash with the idea of travelling light...lol. We could wait in front of a local watering hole til it opens and spend the day getting pie eyed.... :wacko2:......or....we could sneak into the local country club, hang out at the pool and tap on some bored rich milfy's and tell we like to ride "posse"....take em for a spin... :good:....hmmmm I guess I am not alone.....living dangerously that is......I like your style Bob........can I be Neilix :blum1:..... :rofl2:

First route suggestion for the Canucks, this is the speed route, should get us there in the least amount of time. By avoiding the ferries in Kingston we can avoid having to wait for the first one at 8am and get an earlier start if we want, we also avoid the ferry at Lake Champlain. This route also takes the Interstates where possible to minimize traveling time. This is just a suggestion, if anyone wants to detour for scenery or has any other suggestions speak up. The ride there last year taking the scenic route was great but by the time we got there I was more than ready. We see so much great scenery on Sat & Sun that I'm willing to save 2 hours on a direct route there. Bob & Paul please weigh in one this.

I'm for a bit quicker route this year .... the ferries added alot of time...
That route is close to our return route last year, eh Dan? I wonder how that Hwy 15 (from hwy 104 down to #2) is doing... it had alot of construction last year....
Hopefully Mike and Doug will join in like last year...Mike could just skip north a bit and hook up , and we will still go right by Cabot to pick up Doug.
Maybe they would know what kind of shape hwy 15 is in, or if there are better/faster backroads.
BTW, if we do run out of space at your place Dan, my place is available here too...just so everyone knows I'm only 25 mins away from Dan's in kingston; so space wont be a problem for a stop over before crossing the border. Its just here if we need it...
If Chris does make the rally he should join in the posse. And there is a flying J on the 401 at Napanee... If the posse could swing in there when passing by, I could hook up for the last bit into Dan's place.
Also, If Chris(Toronto area) and Eager Beaver (N.S.) make it, there will be 3 (including Kevin's) freshly restored red and whites!!! That's cool!

That's the route I took to get home last year. Not as nice, but more practical.
I remember is as a crazy hot ride. :diablo: I dumped a bottle of cold water inside my 'stich at each stop.
But I made it all the way home to Whitby in a reasonable time.

One of the few blends I'll drink. Mostly I'm a single malt kind of guy.
Dan
Dan, I have that exact whiskey sitting on my counter.
Unfortunately, my bottle has somewhat less in it than that one. :sorry:
On the diversion that is scotch:

Kev
ps......all whiskey wars aside..........does the Canadian posse have orginized lodging or do we take care of our own?
You guys should get one of the canadians to bring a bottle of 40 creek to the rally. It's the best Canadian whiskey that I have ever drank. Doesn't even need any thing but an ice cube
I've never even heard of it ......40 Creek that is...but I am willing to try (almost) anything once. I would be a bit apprehensive having a swig of anything distilled in Knob Creek.....do you suppose that's what "get on the piss" means? :scratch_one-s_head:....maybe thats why Capone went north for his whiskey......
Now what about the ride home......I am seriously considering the return trip through Vermont and New York.......amazing roads.....I mean amazing!!! I was actually thinking of a Sunday night layover in Lake Placid and off toward the 1000 islands border Monday........anyone is welcome to join me.........

Lodging.....I have reserved one of the 2 bedroom condos on the camp site(1 minute walk...I am told)......if anyone wants the other room, please let me know asap....it will be $110.00 for the 2 nights......first come first served

Lodging: Paulfj03, Bob, & myself have reserved the 35' coachman for the weekend. I'm not willing to share a bed but if someone wants to talk Bob or Paul into snuggling up and sharing a bed for some FJ love'n then we might be able to fit one more...

Great news Kev. The condos aren't too far, after you get settled in come out to the group site (all the way to the end of the camp site) and have a beer or two with everyone.
BTW, Most of us will be staying 3 nights

Most of us arrive Friday afternoon-evening, ride Saturday and Sunday and check out Monday morning.
It may make for a long day, riding all day Sunday and then riding home that night.
You're welcome to ride just one day if you wish too.

It's too bad we couldn't do a 4 or 5 day rally....doesn't seem like alot of time to get to know everybody.....feels like a quickie....lol......but quickies are ok from time to time.....Two summers ago I did a good trek from Toronto....in to Lake Placid....across Vermont....New Hampshire and into Maine(Bar Harbour). Then I went all the way up and around New Brunswick into Halifax. After that it was on to the Cabot Trail......eventually plowing my way back through Northern New Brunswick and through Quebec.....it was a gas speaking French again...they love when Angliphones....speak French.....especially the fairer sex....wink wink.....you should see the reactions I get when I speak Manderin...lol...anyway... I may alter my trip and stay the Sunday.....you make good sense.....might have to be a game day decision...

Bob N has made a habit of coming for just one day. Which means you can stay one day and ride home with him, or stay 2 days and take his bunk in the camper with Paul and Dan
Last year a few of us showed up early Friday and went for an awesome ride. Which makes the rally 3 days and 3 nights, and all the crazy shit happens on the 3rd night.
:drinks:
This rally is on my calendar for an other year. I will most likely leave after work on Thursday afternoon. That will get me to the campground at 7 ish.
I'll probably leave Monday morning and do a half day at work, or just take the long way home and skip work for an other day (more likely). I'll pack the propane stove and some pans again for some steak and eggs for breakfast. Looks like we will have good size group this year.

I'll see if they will let me set up at the group site and pay for a nights stay at a regular site. If it's an issue I will just set up twice, no big deal.
I will certainly be up for a Friday cruse. Hopefully this time we won't get soaked.
I have 2 beds in the condo, I booked, still available for the weekend...........35 bucks a night.........if anyone doesn't want to hall a tent and sleeping bag..........it has 2 bedrms and a pullout in the living room......2 floors(upstairs and down)... a kitchen......and 2 bathrooms....but no a/c.....

I'm hoping to make it again this year. I was hoping to go to the East coast spring rally in Boone and the Maine one but I don't know if I'll be able to do both. Winter was really hard without snow this year in the powersports business. So I had to use some vacation time and our hours were shortened along with pay so that kind of hurt some of my summer time plans. But business is booming now so maybe I can make some up with over time if it is offered. We will see. It shouldn't be a problem for me to make it to Maine. I bought a coleman frying pan and plan to pack more stuff so we can eat at the campground more. Thanks to Glen for inspiring me to get some more camping gear to carry on my bike to be more self-sufficient. Look forward to meeting the new guys.
It will be good to see you again Eric. It looks like it may be a good size crew this year. After drinking Crown Royal on an empty belly the first year
(and basically crawling to my tent) it was clear that we needed some food at camp. Last year worked pretty well with the burgers at night and steak and eggs in the morning.
Yes that was awesome. My kind of FJ rally. That is great we are getting more people to come this year. That's what happened with the Boone rally. Each year it seemed to draw more and more people. I'll try not to eat Doug's breakfast this year. LOL
Just a reminder to the true north ..............MAKE SURE YOUR PASSPORTS ARE UP TO DATE........ :drinks:
I hope to do the burgers again this year. May need a head count as the rally gets closer.

Yes you will want to bring atleast a tent and sleeping bag and I like an air mattress. One night we will probably have a cook out for supper. Burgers and dogs on the grill. We normally all meet somewhere for breakfast. Some of us will be bringing stuff to cook breakfast at the campground atleast one or two mornings. The campground also rents out campers so you can camp in style or do primative camping with most of us in the field. Campfire and drinking at night after a day long ride. It is a great time.

That must be a Northeast thing. I was born in Vermont and I enjoy the same things. I live in New York now but you can't take the Vermonter out of me. Plus I'm one of the none FJ bikes. Ok so I took Friday and Saturday off this year. So I will be leaving early Friday morning and arrive in Maine early afternoon (my guess). Can't wait to see everyone. Now we just have to hope for nice weather.
Regrettably, I will not able to come to Maine this summer.

Hopefully I'll get my act together and will see you all again in 2013.

Hello to the NESR rally group, I am Andrew K. from Northern Ontario and would like to join this years ride. I had picked up a neglected, black 1990 FJ in September, rebuilt it over the winter and now enjoying every KM (mile). Many Yamahas in the past but this is one of the best all round rides. Thanks to Paulfj03 for all his info, links and parts to help with this project. He had also mentioned the North East Rally, did some research and looks like I'm hooked. Other riders were saying the Vermont Hwy#2 is a must ride. Told to ask Dan if I could reserve the available trailer bunk, if its still available, if not then I have my tent ready to go. I would be riding Thurs. from home to Ottawa, then hooking up with the Kingston group Fri. morning for the border crossing at Hwy#416/#401. Looking forward to the great FJ adventure.

Hey Andrew,
Excellent!! Welcome to the club here. You just may have the record for the longest ride to the NESR 2012! I would guess 13 to 14 hours???
Have you figured out how many kms??
It will be a great time. The riding in the mountains is an awesome experience.
I like that colour scheme of your 1990. Nice! If you can, ..... post a picture, or 2, of it.
The 401-16 junction (Johnstown) should be a great spot to hook up with us. We take 16 south across the border. Perfect. Then we will continue and pick up more posse members . We should hit Bethel like a bomb!
Paul
Well it was a great Canada Day, we did a 6 hour ride today towards Ottawa area, tried out the new soft saddle bags, good test run to see how secure they were, got caught in the pouring rain which tested the new leathers, all riding gear working great.
- Believe it or not I met up with some harley riders from MAINE! They were heading west to Sault st Marie, crossing south to Millwaki to see the Harley Museum. I told them about the FJ Rally to Maine, they suggested we MUST ride the 'Kanga mangus' hwy. through White Mountain Park. Hopefully this is on our list of places to ride while we are there.
- Question about the fuel mileage on the FJ, I had riden 174 miles (275km), the red low fuel light was on but needle still above empty, if it runs out and I switch to reserve , how many more miles or kilometers is available on reserve?
- Rough calculation for my trip would be 1000 km (600 miles) from home to the campground at West Bethell, have to remember to bring the Tylenol.
It is, and there are better roads than that one too :yahoo:
Bob W
The Kangamangus has been on the route for the last two years, and I'm guessing we will do it again. It is a nice road, but very busy , as it goes through a national forest. Like Bob says, there are some better roads on the rally. I've eliminated the reserve switch on my '86 , and I get about 200 miles when the fuel light starts flickering. That is typically about 4.2-4.3 gallons to top it back up. The tank holds 5 ish gallons. Many people just leave it on "reserve" because the bike will just stop running with out warning when it's time to switch it. This can be dangerous at the wrong time.

That's not bad. My return trip last year that looped north of Lake Champlain and crossed over to the 401 at Prescott was about 800km (to Whitby). Left around 7am and got home by 5:30pm. It was crazy hot; I dumped a cold bottle of water into my 'stich at each stop.
Having the overnight stay in Kingston on the way down was great. I think we started around 8:30am. Took the ferry to Wolfe Island, then took a scenic route to the ferry from from Port Kent to Burlington. That trip, with the lots of rain, got us to the campground around 7:30pm. I liked the roads we took, but with the rain the trip was a bit long. You may want to skip the ferry and take the north route.
My personal longest day was the return trip from Boone in 2008. 1200km in one day, from 7am to 9:30pm. Sun, wind, hail, rain, sore butt... and a big grin.

Thanks Paul for the detailed route map, should be a great run to Bethel. just a suggestion but I would love to ride to the coast during our weekend, possible destination to Portland Maine to see the Atlantic ocean. If we cant fit that in the schedule its ok, looks like lots of great riding ahead.
The campground is about a two hour ride to Portland. The two loops we have used are to the northeast and the southwest. The roads leading to Portland become slow and busy the closer you get to the ocean. There was talk the first year about going to the coast for lobster, but it would just be a slow parade. I'm not sure were we could find the 4-5 hours to get there and back. If you really wont to make it happen, a couple of us could go to Portland and meet back up with the group at lunch in Rangley Me. It would be a long day in the saddle, but it is doable.
what about BAR Harbour ???? I have had the lobster there........and mmm mmmmmm ........quite good... :nyam2:

Sorry... No offense intended. Humor doesn't always travel well over the internet. The truth is if someone really wanted to take the ride, I would probably be willing to take the lead. I have a family camp on a lake in Elsworth Maine, about twenty minutes from down town Bar Harbor. I have spent lots of time riding in the area. The park roads are fun when the tourists are gone.
I live 3 mi from the Atlantic if you want to see it. 30 mi from portland, if you want lobster let me know a friend I race with owns a brew pub in n conway NOT FAR AWAY he could cook lobsta for you.
If anyone might want to watch FJ powered race cars I may/will go racing sat night. :sorry: My customers kid needs to race. It's about a 1.5 hours away (Star raceway) I plan on doing most of sat ride then leaving to go to the race track if anyone wants to go.
Bar harbor is a bit of a trip but FJs can get it done

On this forum there are dicks, assholes, cunts, boobs, and boneheads. Glenn is none of those. (That I know of... :bomb:)
The coast ride (and lobster) has been brought up each previous rally. The coast ride goes down in flames due to the horrible summer traffic. Rte 1 is a parking lot full of people from hell. Anyone who as experienced it will avoid it. The lobster is more likely to work, but didn't get off the ground due to lack of enthusiasm. What ever happened to the BBQ lobster idea?
Fellers-
I'm in Ohio, better than 800 miles from Bethel. I really want to make this rally, but July is packed full of stuff that I want to do - Vintage Motorcycle Days, Wauseon Vintage flat track, etc. However, those don't fall on the same weekend as the NEFJR. Would it piss anybody off if I showed up unannounced? I'd pack a tent so no special accomodations needed. Got new tires yesterday, just gotta get them mounted. Fresh oil change and I'd be ready to go. Problem is I can't confirm I'll be there. Also, I have a funny accent - if a word has the letter "R" in it, I say it. And, although I like muskrat, coon and groundhog, never took a likin' to lobster (not enough butter in Ohio to make it taste good). And my FJ is kinda ugly.
Seriously, sounds like a good time and a good crowd. Really want to do it. And if I do come, where'd be a good place in NY to stop for the night? Would have to take the throughway to make good time. Might be I could make Vermont in one day. The joints are getting old though. The more I read these posts and think about it, and the more beer I drink, the more I figure I gotta do this. Seems the wife is dying to get rid of me for another weekend, too.

This is a pretty loose group, so just showing up is no problem. There is plenty of room and supplies. Down town Bethal is just ten minutes away and has the basics. I can't help as far as a place in NY, but my experience traveling through is there are lots of campgrounds.
I hope you can make it, the more the merrier. Trust me , you want be the only one with an accent.............
Thanks, RACER. If I make the trip I'll probably Motel 6 it on the way over. Don't want to have to wait for a tent to dry before I leave in the morning. What I should have asked is are there any places I should avoid for an overnight stay in eastern NY / western Vermont. Would sleeping on a picnic table at a rest area be a no-no? I've been known to do that. However, times have changed since the last time I did - and come to think of it the last time I did it I woke up with ants crawling in and out of my mouth. And the reason I woke up was because the guy who maintained the rest area was kicking my boot to ask me to please get my bike out from under the picnic shelter and leave. Yup, would definitely be a motel.
To the new guys.........you are going to be far more impressed with either of the two loops we have, than you will be riding to the ocean.
Maybe you guys should ask last years new rally attendees, Paul and Dan, how disappointed they were with the ride and scenery before assuming
you want to see the ocean. The rally is only 2 days it's impossible to see it all, but what we have planned is some of the best riding and sights around.
You may have to trust the locals a little bit here, you won't be disappointed.
If interest in the rally continues to grow maybe we can add a 3rd day next year making it possible to ride to the coast one day.
But I would want 5 or 6 people to commit before reserving the campground an extra day. It seems hard enough for people to come for 2 days, as we have a few guys that only show up for 1 day each year.

This is why Glenn has received the "Nicest guy at the rally" award for the last 2 years now.
It really isn't a bad idea though, if enough people wanted to go to the coast.
We could split up, one group heads for the coast and the other group stays in the mountains.
It gets a little complicated keeping 10+ bikes together anyways.

In reality, I think Bar Harbor is to far for a one day round trip from Bethel. But if there really is interest in getting to the coast, Boothbay Harbor is very doable. It would be around 220 miles round trip. It's a classic coastal town, with some nice seafood restaurants right on the water. It is a busy tourist town, but fairly easy to get to, and get around. The ride would not be all that interesting, but that might not be bad after many of you guys cranking out the miles on the trip to Bethel. I would be willing to give up the Mt. Washington loop and take lead on a coastal loop. The Rangely route is still my favorite of the two. It's partly because I have spent more time in the White Mtn area. The Rangely route has some nice altitude changes, rough and smooth roads, a nice lunch, and some fast curvy roads.
I'm happy either way, and we still have some time to think it over.
Orr's and Bailey Island is a nice ride, stone bridge only one left in the world like it I think. It would take 50ish mi off of boothbay trip. Near Brunswick/Topsham Me.
Better roads in the mountains for not seeing cops every 10 mi like on the coast too.
We can try moat mountain brewery for lunch in N conway good food/drink if everyone wants to.

Hampton beach would be a lot nicer than anything in Portland.
it sounds like Bob is going to lead the Atlantic rally, the guys that want to go to the ocean can follow him down, hang out at the beach. Then hang out at the races or just drive back to the campground when they are ready.
we'll keep the campfire going for you guys
Hampton beach is a very busy place on a Saturday night in the summer. It is a nice ride in the spring and fall, but in the summer it is packed solid with people and cars, cars, cars. It is a fun place, but way too crowded for my taste. Portsmouth is nice, but it takes a little work to get to the water. Rye beach is an option if you can find a place to park. Odiorne park http://www.seacoastsciencecenter.org/visit_today/odiorne_point.php (http://www.seacoastsciencecenter.org/visit_today/odiorne_point.php) would be great except it says it closes at 5 pm ,but that may just be the Science center, not the park. I'll see if I can find out when the park closes, but I'm guessing it's dusk.
The gates at the park close at 6pm , but the park is always open. I'm guessing there would be enough room to park a few FJ's out side the gates.

I only brought up Hampton beach cause you come in from the rear coming from star. And you got to show them the wonderfull domed buildings in Seabrook. :shok: There is not many left.
Glenn is from down that way he's the man for a coast tour. :pardon: Glenn don't want to throw you under the bus, IF Glenn wants too.
There are a few more southern NH riders, maybe they might/should come along too.
Bob W
Glenn is going to be busy, riding the high speed twisties with me. Surely these guys can handle finding their way that last 20 miles. :empathy3:
I'm with Travis on this one. I'd rather ride some fun roads. I just had lobster on the 4th of July from Price chopper. It was awesome and only $5.88 a pound. I guess it will be a small group riding the fun roads then?

I thought Snarky an the boys were going to do Saturdays loop AND (less Bob) a trip to Star/Atlantic ocean. If we ran the Mt. Washington route backwards, they could head south on RT 16 in Conway and the rest of us can head back to the camp to drink and tell lies. That should be less than two hours to Star. I'm happy going back to camp. I like Star speedway, and I have spent many nights there when the big block supers ran. But I can go there anytime.

Would anybody like a North East FJ Rally t-shirt? I have a design and a print shop ready to go, could bring them to the campground. I'll start another thread to avoid jamming up this one.

Hi Trav... I am not sure if Dan has informed you or not...but apparently he will not be attending the rally next week.......something to do with his trailer park........which would explain his lack of social etiquette in informing the rest of the group. I don't wish to speak on behalf of anyone individually but I do feel obligated to make sure you know who is and who is not coming from this side of the border. I wish apologize on his behalf for not showing the common courtesy you and the rest of us deserve. I am sure Don Cherry(being from Kingston) would be ashamed...this is not the Canadian way!!!! we are classier than that......Come on Dan....you let everyone know you wanted a T-shirt.........the least you could do is excuse yourself the way Bob did....with a little class.......come on brother.......You don't or can't attend something you have been invited to.....the decent thing to do is at least respond. That way, when you do respond for a T-shirt....it doesn't make you so...........trailer park!!!!

we are only aa few days away!!!
where abouts is the camp ground is it off of rt26
and what time friday is everyone getting there
http://www.pleasantrivercampground.com/ (http://www.pleasantrivercampground.com/)
I'm getting there Thursday night. I will probably be in and out Friday morning. I don't know when Bob and Travis , but I'm guessing early afternoon. We will probably take a short cruise in the late afternoon. The site is all the way to the bake of the campground. I usually just stop at the desk and tell them I'm with the Yamaha group. Then just go to the site, find a spot you like, and set up your camp.

It's on Rt. 2, ten minutes from the N.H. border
You can show up anytime after 11am
Heh Trav...thx for punching in yesterday....looks like the problem lies with the pickup coils.....throwing some replacements on Wednesday and should good to roll Thursday morning.....is there anything I can bring across the border for the group? A bottle of something maybe?? :drinks:
Kev
PS.....eager beaver has asked me to extend his heartfelt disappointment for not being able to attend this year....but his bike is not up for the ride this year.....he is in Halifax and hopes to attend next year. :hi:
sounds good i will probably be there early afternoon
Sounds like we can add Nathan Jones to our list. Says he's leaving tonight from Missouri.
I plan on leaving early Friday morning. So if you guys are taking a ride Friday afternoon I should be in. I should be able to get there by Noon.
Travis and I are shooting for 1 ish so figure 2 ish :bad: We will need to reload race trailer, and truck.
Then we ride, then we :drinks:. :yahoo:

Does the Canadian Contingent have a travel itinerary as of yet? Hoping to meet up with you folks on VT Route 15 where it intersects Rt. 2 in West Danville. Any idea when that would be?

Last year we took a short low key ride into NH and scoped out some roads. We ran through some rain last time, but it was a good time. I'm looking forward to Fridays "mini rally".
Mini Rally, I like it. It was a fun ride till the rain, fog, darkness made it became a bit much to see. :bad: But we will do it again.
Bob W
They are predicting scattered thunder storms Friday. I guessing we might find one.
That's why I have an Aerostich I'm prepared for any kind of weather. But maybe we will get lucky and not see any showers. Looking forward to this weekend. Riding motorcycles, drinking by the campfire and BS'ing with everyone life don't get any better than that.

We are planning to enter the US border by 8 bells Friday morning......Dan and Bob were the navigators this year...but sadly they won't be coming.....Dan is going to hook up with us Thursday night at Paul's......so he may yet surprise us...if he does come along...might be 4 on the floor in that coach..but no FJ lovin... :praising:...... Paul and Dan did the run last year and probably know the times schedule best....I'll get some details and get them posted....weather may have something to say about our arrival as well......I didn't want to be the one to mention the weather...but if they are at all like they are here....we are in for an awesome weekend.....

Yes, probably around 3-4pm. If we get away from Ogdensburg around 10, then we probably will end up there at that time after pitstops.
We can call/email you as we get closer within a couple of hours, if you like :good2: If we are earlier , then we will certainly let you know :good: I gave extra leeway time , so there is a chance we could be early :flag_of_truce:

Have a good, safe and spirited ride everyone.
Thanks for the good wishes Bob, wish you could join us. Well bags are packed, all strapped down and ready to twist the throttle tomorrow morning. Riding down to Ottawa for supper, then meeting the Ontario group at Ogdensberg Friday 9am for the border crossing. 6 days of riding ahead, can't wait, hopefully the body and bike are up for the challenge.
The bike is packed and ready to go.
I'll probably take a ride into Gorham,NH for some food for Sat/Sun breakfast stuff. Last year I did eggs and steak. Mostly scrambled, but I did manage a couple fried eggs. Bacon is kind of a mess, but if someone would prefer ham, I'm willing to pick up some. I'll have a two burner propane coleman stove if someone want to cook their own.
We started doing this because of the time it took to go to breakfast with more than two people.
If anyone has any special requests, tell me and I may or may not pick it up. :mocking:

Andrew and I are bringing a single propane burner, each, to help with breakfeast. :). The trailer should have utensils, frying pans etc. Thanks Glen! we will hit the stores as well.
I am just about set ready to go.
If anyone needs anything, there is a wally world close. I will have my RV so I will have limited stuff.
We will have my pu if we need to run to get beer, food, ice, strippers, my bad. If anyone may need any parts or other bike related stuff please let me know so I can bring with me, 2 hrs to my house from the campground. Does anyone need me to bring extra coolers? or is one or two big community ones good.

PS, KOOKALOO to all that attend .
A cooler for the stuff I picking up would be great.
Glenn
I will bring a few then, we will just need to ice them. I like cold beer. :yahoo:
Travis will have his Barby & fire wood.
I'll have extra chairs, EZup and the trailer so if it rains like last year. The party/bench racing/lying will be :good2: go.
Tools, air, gas can, oil, chemicals.

It will be dry enough to come visit, even if you don't ride and it's not gonna rain all weekend anyways.

Ok guys do to some local rain I may delay my start this morning. So hopefully everyone concerned will see this. Don't wait around for me at the campground for an afternoon ride if I'm not there in time. I don't want to hold anyone up. Just Saturday and Sunday. I'm back home after two days of damp drawers and profligate profanity. New pavement and some new faces made bearing the rain worthwhile. A rash of blown taillights and a sickly I-can-D were the only casualties, a group effort healed her better than new! Maine has no 1157 bulbs on the weekend, so we struck out there.
THANK YOU to:
The campground guy for setting me straight on my disrespectful sneer. This explains so much... :sarcastic:
Travis and Bob for hosting and planning
Bob- mobile FJ emergency room, sweeping, shelter, (chairs?)
Travis- grill and eats and ride leading and firewood
Glenn- breakfast and booze, metric conversions
Nathan- traveling 17,000 km to attend, providing security, showing pink stripe solidarity
Kevin- spiritual enlightenment and enlightening spirits. Chips.
The whine-ass campers- going back to where you came from.
Eric- putting the R into FJ. And the F-bombs. And taking up my fire tending slack.
Andrew- the nicest Canada themed beer can holder I have ever recieved as a heartfelt gift. And the lighter.
Paul- the lighter. :sarcastic:
Marsh and FJowners- making the NorthEast rally possible by bringing all of us together.
I made it home safe and sound. Once again it was a great weekend of riding, drinking,BS'ing by the fire and good food. It was really nice to meet some new Canadian FJ owners Eh! We had some fresh pavement to ride which was awesome.
I got in at around 11:30 last night. The fog was brutal on the way home. It was the first time that I was happy there were cars in front of me.
In spite of the occasional showers, the weekend was definitely not a wash out. I'm quite sure everyone that showed up, had a great time.
I'm already looking forward to next years event.
Thanks to everyone for a great time.
We Got across the border by 7pm and had a great ride on the way home. It was sunny and warm........ just right....
I arrived home at 830pm, and Kevin headed on to the big TO.
It was just an AWESOME weekend. Met some new FJers, got together again with the same great bunch of guys, even better riding than last year! :good: Bob W and Travis did a great job working the kinks out of Kevin's bike. It was still humming along like it should while heading home. A big Thankyou to all who helped put together the NESR2012!!! The whole weekend blew by too fast!!! My odometer rolled 100000kms while I was there...My final tally was 1907kms.... not bad.... I'm interested to see the mileage totals of Nathan, Andrew, and Kevin!! ...
I have some pictures that I will post into the rally gallery, ASAP. I also have some video that I can add as well......
Looking forward to 2013!!! :drinks:
Great to hear you guys had such a great time! I created a category for this rally in the Gallery section to upload your photos to. I look forward to seeing them!

All I can say is......God does work in mysterious ways !!!!!!! :flag_of_truce:.....limped in to the rally late Friday....not quite prepared for losing my rally virginity......aged about 10 years in 10 hours en route...the poor girl died on the side of the road more than once and making it there was one prayer after the other.......Paul was like an old Mexican man.....holding that big carrot in front of the Donkey.......just get her to my place.......just got to get her to Doug's.......just got to get her to the rally........and like the dumb ass that I am.......heehaw.....on we went.......campsite was quiet when we got there...some of the early arrivals were already slamming the pavement.....and some were already into the refreshments....now I always thought I had a big mouth......but along comes this grizzly called Bob with a wey(bigger)mouth....so big and loud was this bruiser that he chased some of the other campers awey
:Bear dubstep (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2ofi4pIoA0#ws)
so I'm asking myself.....how the hell am I going to ask this grouchy cub protecting oversized canine for help??? :unknown:..the answer was easy.........send Paul in :mocking:
turns out.....Paul knew exactly how to approach the situation...and b4 too long....everyone seemed to come together and lend a hand or a voice......by Saturday night.....the pickup coil swap... a thourough carb cleaning and a Star Trek beam me up Scotty Carb sync er.....and Candy was better than new. Was finally able to breathe......and actually take the girl for a whirl.. :yahoo: If it wasn't for Bob being such an asshole....and Trav being such a DICK .....sorry Glen.....Trav was the bigger dick..... :praising:.... my cherry popping would have hurt worse.....and Bob yelling "Take it Candy....TAKE IT GIRL" and slamming her from behind.....and Trav.....gunning to get in front of the other fellas screaming......SUCK MY PIPE !!!!!! :bye2:......you could see these guys had done this many times before......I am wondering if that was why Neal and Bob didn't cum this time..... :shok:.....but I took that leap of faith...jumped out of that plane and by Gods good humor... landed on my feet.......and traded my parachute for wings....just never thought angels could be so ugly.....
Aside from the hero's this weekend...we were camping...and the one thing I love about camping is the wild life....and there were plenty of animals at this campsite...
Of course I mentioned the bear (Bob)...
There was also the ever watchful Owl (Doug)...watching and observing everything....sitting quietly....a hoo hoo every once in a while but nothing passed his watchful gaze...or his opened throttle....
Then there was the Turtle (Paul)
The Master of Disguise - Turtle Club Scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezAJeaCySV4#)
....although this year he came without the shell...and gave that rabbit something to think about .....would never had made it without you bro.....
There was the Rabbit(me)....who loved to run.......especially when being chased.....was nice to have the legs to do it.......fellas...my eternal gratitude :hi:
We had a fuzzy little Koala bear(Eric) who loved rain covered road branches for breakfast...and although he was cute and fuzzy...he was one little leaf (behind) eaten smoothy that you just didn't get close to...none of us could anyway....well except for Travis....must have been that pipe of his..... :dance2:
Speaking of which.....we also had a Road Runner(Trav)
Looney Tunes Games COYOTE CHASE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc4Fi7w1g-0#ws)
and there was no catching this guy......rocket powered or otherwise...and although he didn't speak alot with his mouth....he did all his talking with his hands......not just with the throttle..but when fixing shit and playing guitar...can't wait to jam laddy
We had the Hawk(Andrew) who loved to fly
There was a SASQUATCH(Glen)......who would have made the Hendersons proud...a quiet lovable giant who only roared when absolutely necessary.......cars or no cars
and lastly.....the Missouri mule(Nathan)...although he was there the shortest.....he rode the longest...and was more than willing to share his Carrot with the right sort......never saw a mule move so fast......hope you had enough gas.....to get her ..DONE !!!! :blum1:
In closing....I want to thank everyone who had a part in an incredibly awesome experience for me.....although we were all men....if you looked closely ...you could see the boy in everyone of us.....simply the greatest thing in life....to face your fears and win....God Bless you my new friends...can't wait to see what next years adventure will be

Thanks again to all that attended. This rally is a big part of my life now, and the reason is all of you that I have meet over the last 3 years.
6 days, 2610 kms ( 1600 miles ), sore body from so many hours in the saddle but that was AWESOME! My faithfull 90 got me home, worn out front brakes, stretched out chain and rear tire down to the wear bars, but with a minor tune up she will be ready for the next adventure.
BIG THANK YOU to all the guys in the fj group for the hospitallity. Learned more about riding in these last few days as i have in the last 5 years. How to ride in the pouring rain and sun and rain and sun, proper suspension set up keeps the bike from launching over the whoops, and also desending 5000 ft straight down by "taching out". Dodging wooden bullets, bump and run with transports, carving the back country like a water skier, all while soaking up the incredible scenery. Hey does anyone have an 1157 bulb I can buy?
Quote from: akinc on July 31, 2012, 08:22:05 PM...... Dodging wooden bullets, .......
Man,... I wish I had the camera on.... :shok:...
We were heading down #15 to pick up Doug, in about, 10mins, ....or .....30mins? ...an hr?....... We were held up by what looked like a fair size cattle truck with no rear gate at all, loaded to the nuts with pieces of wood...... ply wood, 2x4's, 2x6's etc, etc. Everytime the truck hit a bump or a riser, you could see the load bounce freely... and I would think to myself..."wtf am I going to do if any of that slides of the back? "
SO...I was hanging back a little more than usual... when, sure enough, after hitting a riser, a 4-5ft piece of 2x8(?) slid off the back in slow motion... :shok:, hit the pavement on its end and started bouncing and rolling end over end and somersaulting!! I had a 50/50 chance :shout:...... LEFT or RIGHT? (popcorn)
I went to the left and lucked out :good: then it was Kevins turn..... he deked it out ,no prob... :music:, and Andrew was on the left side, so when it was his turn, he had no prob!!!
We had to follow that truck for another mile or 2 before we could get by it.....
Good Times! :wacko2:
I wonder if the backed up traffic, left behind, had to dodge any bullets......
I imagine the posts will be flying quite some time.....always forget something............
On behalf of the entire group....a special thanks to Doug...... for having ordered T-shirts for the Rally and giving them away....wouldn't take a penny........ I will look forward to your visit Doug as well as yours Bob..........seems you were right about her.........She did want it !!! I guess your tool is more persuasive then mine........either that or she just has a thing for sweepers.... :mocking:
Andrew...glad you made it home safe and sound...was great to meet you and share the experience.....look forward to seeing you at the BBQ

Well Walt might wan to recheck his dates. Because I was told the 21-23 was the fall fj rally. My wife and I will be arriving sometime Wednesday the 19th. I would love to come to the BBQ but I don't think I could get the paper work to cross the border intime. Maybe I can be ready for next year. Happy Birthday Can D Man.

Thx Koala Man....I'm sorry you can't be here for the BBQ.....next year I hope.......now as far as the Tellico weekend....seems that Lori owns a camp ground with some small cabins and a camp site...but the lodge I contacted was a link lori posted in case there was an accomodation issue. So....this Walt guy has lots of space at his lodge for that weekend.....and it is apparently right down the road from where the rally will be.....so.........even if I come "last minute"........looks like lodging will not be an issue for me and anyone able to come along......I will poke around and try to recruit a few more sailors....... :good2:

Thanks for posting the video. I tried to show it on my TV with a Western Digital media player, but it was restricted from playing on a TV.
I've seen that before for commercial content, but not for a user upload. Too bad, it would have been nice to show them.

ALL the songs are in YOUR head. It's nice that you let some out to play occasionally.
well this summer is winding to a stop and sadly the posts of the rallys have gone to sleep like a hibernating bear......but alas I can hear the roar of the motors revving up for 2013......I can hear them like a distant storm.....rolling slowly in like a black sky.... way off on the horizon.......like rolling thunder ........... like the Breath of a Locomotive......

No,Baldy wears the inflatable bear suit,it'd be an easy mistake for you to make, he was behind you when he wore it.
Hey Klav you look like an expert marxman....if I ever make it out to the land downunder will you show me how to shoot straight ??? I think my barrel has a big bend in it..... :praising:.......I love hunting sheilas......in fact I have met a few smokers on Hi5........might have to bring my snowball suit and we can do a double drop bear thing......oh....and if I can come there...I'll make sure I bring a spoon......for added protection.......well...it's either a spoon or an "anti banana disguise"....
You call that a knife? This is a Knife! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xqghpm4gXf4#)
but in case the spoon doesn't work....I'll bring the "anti banana disguise"........
Banana in the tailpipe! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HktV2yGtLv8#ws)
in case someone has fancy ideas about putting a banana in my tailpipe...ain't falling for that....!!!!! got it Bundy??? alrighty then.....
