I found what I thint is a good deal on a 1998 xjr 1200 it has 40000 km and comes with DYNA 2000 IGNITION AND COILS KEIHIN FCR 39 FLATSLIDES CUSTOM OILCOOLER  AKRAPOVIC EXAUST (good ole cut and past) for 1500
So

Cool find Scotty...

1) Will it fit my FJ?
FCR's and Dyna 2000?  Yes. The FCR's and Dyna ignition alone are worth $1500 so the rest is gravy.
The header tubes on the Akrapovic.  Yes, not too sure on the collector box and mufflers.

2) Are there any problems with the early xjr that I need to look for?
Dunno, I never owned one. Is it running? Road worthy? Do the typical compression test, etc, etc,

Cheers!

You'll have a few problems fitting it, but none that are a deal breaker (AFAIK).
The engine mounts are the same as the later 91+ FJ engines, the output countershaft is a bit longer so you may have to either replace it with an FJ piece or change to a wider wheel to keep the chain aligned.  You'll probably have to make and fit new exhaust hangers.

Randy can tell you if there's any special problem with early XJR engines, but as they are 99+% FJ engines they should be as or even more reliable.

I have a full Akra from an XJR on my '92FJ (thanks to Marc Rittner), so I think yours would fit...  the cowl for the bottom does not work with the Akra header as is, but some creative bracketry could likely get it on there.  I've kind os warmed up to the hooligan look and am leaving mine off for now.

and BTW - the Akra alone is an $1800 item.

Why are you questioning this behavior?  Just enjoy and go with it.
