Title: got a question for the guru's
Post by: fats699 on November 26, 2011, 04:48:47 AM
hi all hope every one is well
the question i have is "why would my front wheel be trying to turn into a courner Eg:on a roundabout only doing about 20k my front wheel wants to keep turning in to the courner."
i have just got it up and running, it has not been started for about 5 years.

front steering feels maybe a little loose
tires:NEW
front forks:iffy
rider:experenced
bike is a 92 fj1200

any info would be a great help

Steering head bearings, either need adjustment or are knackered. Also check how far the forks are protruding through the top triple clamp.  Regards, Pete.

thanks for the fast reply
the forks are a little dif on this bike as fare as the hight above the tripple its a ex police bike i have compaired pics of one from melbourne
here in OZ and they look the same
the bars fall to one side if i put it on the centerstand and sit on it to lift the front wheel of the ground so i think you might be right
with the bearings

Could also be low tire pressure, or even sacked rear shock.
Check all the bits that affect steering.

Hey Martin, does this happen when turning only one direction? Check the rear tire for alignment to the front tire.
If ok....then my vote is for low tire pressure and head bearings
