With all the swingarm swops having been done on many peoples FJ's (thunderace,fz1,R1 etc etc),I wondering if a gsxr arm swop has been completed?
Ive swopped out some "stuff" for a nice aftermarket one off swingarm,that i'd like to fit to my own bike. Im looking for pointers,if anybody with experience of the swop can help please?
The arm was made for a gsxr1100wp.

Sorry no help with the Gixxer swingarm but i can tell you that swingarm swaps can be challenging.
get out your measuring device and see if it will fit between the frame rails.
also take a good long look at the shock linkage.... this is probably where the biggest issues will be.

Thanks racerman for reply. Ive been given some suzuki monoshock parts today,so i'll have a look and see if i can work things out. Im planning on having the frame powder coated,so may wait until the bikes stripped,crack open the welding gear,and if need be,make some new brackets etc for the frame.
Ive got to admit im turning into a bit of an FJ fanatic at the moment,after the bikes stood for over a year unloved and neglected,with me showing anybody who will listen your bike pic (racermans)with comments by myself,that the ride stance looks absolutely perfect in my eyes,probably the nicest FJ ive seen.
If I can get my bike to look half as nice as that i'll be a happy man. :smile:
Thats a good attitude to take..... anything can be done if you want it badly enough and will devote the time and attention (and money) necessary to make sure that it's done correctly.
I will tell you that it's extremely satisfying to modify a machine such as the FJ and actually have it ride and run better than when it was brand new.

Looks like a good project! My swingarm swaps have only been ThunderAce/1st Gen FZ1 based. Heres some writeups I'd recommend to read to get an iea of how others have approached the challenges. Everything won't be the same, but at least you've got some proven approaches to follow.

Ive been giving this some thought,and too be honest,im hoping its no more difficult than some of the other streetfighter project swops ive done myself in the past.
I need to gather some more parts,and then work will commence.
