Title: Boarding School Options?
Post by: Lotsokids on November 12, 2011, 05:55:33 AM
The company I work for gave me a "blank check" to send my very musically talented son to (what a blessing!). They will pay for everything. At only 17 years old, he's mastered the piano and now learning the cello. We had a school in Vienna, Austria lined up to start next year, but I just learned today that they will only start 7th and 8th grade next year. I spent about 3 hours searching this morning and came up with very few leads. So I thought I would turn to my "family" here. :pardon:

We're looking for a boarding school that specializes in classical music. Anyone have any clues? It can be anywhere in the world. Thanks in advance.

If you're looking for University level schools you could start your search here:

I'm not sure how to go about searching for High School level boarding schools with music credentials.

Arnie

BTW  Congratulations to your son.

Try this as your search term in Google:

  " Boarding high school & music "

I know Interlochan Arts in Michigan is pretty highly rated and its on the list.

Thanks, Arnie. That was actually one that I found this morning.

Also, I guess my first sentence didn't read well. I edited it and didn't re-read it before posting. :pardon:

Just saw your post today. I have heard many good things over the years about Julliard in New York City.

Juilliard's Mission
The mission of The Juilliard School is to provide the highest caliber of artistic education for gifted musicians, dancers, and actors from around the world, so that they may achieve their fullest potential as artists, leaders, and global citizens.
