Title: Chain Question
Post by: Medi on November 10, 2011, 06:33:01 PM
I need help with buying a chain.
I have a stock 86 FJ.
From what I've read on the forums I need a 530 chain which has 110 links.
I've found two recommended chains but they only come with 120 links...

Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Most shops cut the chains to length with a chain breaker and then rivet them together.

Oh ok.. another stupid question, EK ZZZ chain specs say it's rated maximum for 1100 CC Engine. Am I looking at the wrong item?

I think I might as well do the sprocket upgrade.
Will this chain work with Randy's sprocket?

I suppose it depends on the chart you're looking at.

They're commonly used by guys with >500hp turbo busas at the dragstrip.  The ZZZ is damned strong.  Saw one guy using one on an aluminum (rear) sprocket on a bike with around 480hp.  Tore the teeth off the sprocket, but the chain was okay, and he reused it without problems.  Now, you're not going to get 30kmi from one in that situation, but with that kind of power, you're not going to get much life out of anything.

the ZZZ chain has been the only chain that survived on my FJ.

IMO it's worth every penny!

KOokaloo!
