sooo ,i found out today , after having an Emergency ct scan yesterday arvo that i have a brain tumor the size of half a coke can , booked in for the operation mid december, , only saying as ive mentioned before on here that i havnt been well enough to work on my effie, , now i know why, docs orders now are no driving riding climbing heavy lifting ect ect,so if anybody wants to come and take effies head off and into a mechanic for valve work feel free (popcorn)
That sucks. By virtue that they are operating, it must be well, 'operable' -that's good I guess. What's the prognosis?
Hope it all works out OK.
Be well.

I wish you the best with the surgery.
Rod,
Very sorry to hear about the tumor. I know it is really scary, but it sounds like the news is positive.
I had throat/neck cancer 2 years ago and went through dissection surgery then 6 weeks of radiation and chemo. They are very good these days with all kinds of cancer therapy. Keep your spirits up, it makes all the difference in the world during treatment and recovery.
Good luck and hang in there!
DavidR.
Best wishes, Rod. The wife and I will be praying for you.
GT
Best of luck and a speedy recovery for you.
Mark
Brain tumors suck. A lot can happen in a month while you wait for surgery . Be careful what you do by yourself without supervision. you may become disorientated and lost and wind up at the bar in the next town.
A friend of mine went thru this recently and still is recovering from the effects.
this will be a great time to do the mindless chores on the fj
trying to cheer you up :drinks: best wishes :empathy3:
wow, thanks everyone for the good wishes,im rather impressed , +1 on mindless chores, tried that but kept losing balance and headbutting the backwheel , , well not really lost balance ,head hurt so gave up working out the rear wheel swap and exhaust valve fix :empathy2:

Rod, I am sure Pat will see the error of his ways, in the mean time, follow doctor's orders, stay in touch the the FJ group, we can't keep you sane but we can distract you. Stay as well as you can...

The old helmet will l seem a little loose when you slip it on next. But will still feel like Kookaloo when you gear up and take her for a ride when you are ready.... I spent a few years off of my 86' after my low side and leaving her in the garage for some years. The joy of getting her fired up after my wife refused to let me sell her was pure joy. I hope you find the same joy.....

The "solution" to that problem is to just cut the hair on both sides :-)
At least you'll be balanced (if any biker is balanced).
The quicker they fix you, the sooner you'll be back in the saddle.
Cheers,
Arnie
Rod,
Happy, healing thoughts going out your way. At least you have a reason to ***GET BETTER*** after the surgery. Motorcycling is really good therapy.
One of my good friends is battling a series of brain lesions from a bad car accident in Croatia back in the early `90's (As I understand it, he was a passenger in a vehicle that went down a mountainside and crashed THROUGH a government official's house!). I've seen firsthand some of the obstacles he's had to overcome as we were roommates for about a year. His situation is inoperable, and one area is eroding his optic nerve, so he has lost about 80% of his vision in both eyes.
Chin up, Bud!
moved up the time is a good thing , you will have less on your mind :rofl2:
best wishes on the surgery and recovery , your fj will wait for you and will be a great part of your recovery. :good2:

Hang in there and I know we'll hear good news after Monday. Thoughts and prayers will be with you throughout the ordeal. The other posts are correct; they have come so far on these types of issues (although not far enough, we've still got 'em) in the last few years. Rod,
This is all good news!
They got all of your extra gray matter out, you got a great scar and some titanium. Now, do what your doctors say and get yourself home. Hospitals are full of bad bugs!
When my brother had the same sort of problem, he had to battle a C-Diff infection too. His first craniotomy was no fun, but the C-Diff almost killed him.
