Title: xjr indicator switches
Post by: fj11.5 on October 18, 2011, 04:00:07 PM
If your sick of the almost vintage switch Block, its an easy conversion to fit xjr left switches , all wires are the same except one yellow/red on the Fj ,and the plug needs changing to match the fj, even get hazard lights for whatever reason yamaha fitted them , the extra Fj wire goes the black wire from the switches

I am curious as to what year XJR you are refering to, is it one of the later years? I believe that the earlier years where the same as the 3XW FJ.

well i used a switch block from an 98 model and that had the extra wire that the Fj dousnt have, easy enough swap I just checked where the wires went to in the xjr block and cut the plug soldered the wires to an old Fj plug, and spliced the extra wire into the Fj loom

Easy enough deal, just trace the wires and match them to the plug, also on mine I needed to remove some plastic from inside the xjr switch that pokes into the handle bar when the switch screws together

cheers fj11,  did you have to change the flasher relay to get the 4way flashers , or does the oem unit cope with it,

Not sure about the later models but on the early models the on/off switch is located on the right handle bar switch block.    Pete.

Well if your loooking at a right side xjr switch block I think there is no on switch for the lights as they are hard wired , , but refer previous post about early Fj. Switches  :empathy:

eagle eyed grey runner  you are bang on bud, i allready have the right hand switch, should have said this, the only reason ime changing switch gear is to gain the hazard lights switch
and if it looks like to much messing about with wires, they will be both in file 13,lost forever in the back of me shed
