Title: Threading the petcock outlet angle?
Post by: WhiteBeard on October 10, 2011, 06:11:15 AM
Reading this important post http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=3265.0. (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=3265.0.)
Wouldn't it be possible to thread both pieces so that the outlet angle screws into the petcock, instead of just being pressed in there?

Just an idea I was thinking of putting to work.

WhiteBeard,
Your not going to be able to thread those parts to get a threaded connection unless you are able to add material to one or the other. Probably the only one you could do that with is the outlet elbow, then you have to find someone willing to thread it, then have a matching tap to thread the petcock body. Hate to throw cold water on anybodies idea, but the baling wire (or better yet stainless steel tie wire) really is the way to go.

Actually, a pretty good idea..... but, you would need to source a piece of tubing with a large enough OD to fit the threaded petcock.  Just cutting threads on the existing tubing, it would be too small to fit the petcock....
