Title: another quickie....
Post by: ninjamuder on October 06, 2011, 08:11:35 AM
hey folks, just thought about it.....since i hafta dive into the carbs this weekend, im gonna go ahead and pull the v/c and check my clearances.

i tried searching, with no good luck, but how do you set the manual cam chain tensioner??......i usually do it while running, but this one looks to be a pain to get to...... :sorry:

Unless someone has allready been there, it should have a self adjusting one on it. They work the best, my legend car only runs the self ajd ones and we turn them 10000 RPMs.

This isn't about what I thought it was going to be at all.

If you've got a manual tensioner, frow it away.  Fooey, one more thing to screw with and go wrong, the OEM ones are fine if they're in good shape.

The hunkashit APE has instructions available (http://www.aperaceparts.com/tech/tensioners.html) though.

thanks man......i know that this bike has " been into" in the past.....honestly, i would rather have a auto tensioner, but hey...it is what it is....

besides, it gives me a chance to take a peek and see what kind of shape the valvetrain is in.....i know that this motor has been out before, and im wondering if ill find any more " goodies" hiding inside....
