Post by: fjkid on October 03, 2011, 05:53:27 PM
Has anyone done one on an fj? I would love to spice up my engine a little. Wondering if no one has experience, is there a way i could put the vent elsewhere? thanks and cheers

What vent?  The fill cap?

I'd imagine the best route would be buying a new one (no oil contamination in the aluminum then), milling out a hole, welding a seat, and slapping a bit of lexan on it.  Seems like a terrible lot of work just to watch your clutch spin backwards, really?  I'd suggest checking oldskoolsuzuki.info but the site appears to have gone kaput, found a little bit that says they've had some server issues, but I don't know if that's recent or not.  Because the clutch actuation is on the other side, it shouldn't be real difficult for a competent shop to whip one up.

The other option is getting a lockup/slider cover (extended) (http://fjowners.com/gallery/171_21_03_10_11_19_22_1.jpeg) and making a transparent cover for the quick access panel.  They're rare like rocking horse shit though, so gluck with finding one.

I am capable of making one. Not looking to buy one, just asking if anyone has done it before. It's not going in my fj but it's going on an fj...
