I got tired of trying to avoid the heat and use a long screwdriver when adjusting the idle speed. I took the chain off of my daughters old bicycle that she has long since outgrown and using the long screwdriver put the chain on one of the links and fed it around the screw, then just kept tension on it. Worked really well.
Someone stole a remote idle adjuster from another bike and stuffed it on. Never saw pictures of it, but it's an ideal answer, an easily available remote idle adjuster would be a lovely mod.
