Good day all. My name is Brian and I live in the Indianapolis area. I found this 85 1100 on Craigslist in June. It turned out to be a very nice low mileage machine (less than 10K). It was slightly modified with exhaust and single carb filters. Everything else looks stock. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to older machines and I would like to take it back to original, with an airbox and OEM exhaust. Looks like Ebay is the place to go for these parts. So far this site has been very interesting and informative.
Thanks
Brian
I tried to add pictures, but cannot get it quite right. The "Additional Options" tab does not have a picture option. Maybe later.
Welcome, Brian... what part of Indy?

Welcome to the group Brian!
I wish you luck in your search for parts.... nothing wrong with purists but a few well implemented modifcations are not to be discounted either.
KOokaloo!

I am west of Broad Ripple.
I saw one of your posts about this bike back in early June. It needs little and runs great.
As soon as I figure out how to put pictures on here, I will post a few.
I am all for safety upgrades (brake lines, pads, etc.) High perf. mods...not so much. I will have a pair of Yoshimura exhausts to replace as soon as I find a pair of good stock exhaust. Also looking for an airbox.

Welcome Brian, those 4 little black trim pieces are called fairing protectors, yea right, like they actually protect something....not.
They are still available: http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1985/FJ1100N/FAIRING%201/parts.html (http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1985/FJ1100N/FAIRING%201/parts.html)
$8.21 each for the left side Part # 36Y-2832M-00-00 and....get this.... $22.62 each for the right side... weird but true.
Looks like FJ's like to fall down on their right side a lot....Something which I know nothing about... :dash1:
Cheers amigo! Pat

Odd, but come to think about it, both times I have dropped my FJs have been on the right side. I think they designed them that way so you have to buy a new clutch cover when the rear brake pedal pops a hole through it...

Makes you wonder what the razor balde realiztion model is for a bike. Buy a bike and then pay 2X 0r 5X or 10X for repris, replacement parts and mtce. $21 Billion USA market.
Are you interested in selling the Yosh slip ons?? I have a set of stock mufflers off of a 89 FJ1200 if your interested in them.. I'd like to be on the list of your willing to sell the Yosh exhaust...
Thanks in advance..

Is this the one I saw on CL?
Welcome Brian, great find...But I may be a little biased.
With a little TLC that thing will clean up nicely.

That fairing bolt should have loctite on it.
It loosens up and pushes the protector off.
Then you go and buy a new one.
I bought my 90 and it had the yosh exhaust - I thought about changing to stock but ended up liking the pipes. They are not too loud at all even for long trips ... no excessive droning.

Ahh! another 85 and a beaut too! I was also lucky to get my bike under 5000 original miles(although it was hardly ever ridden after the prev owner had an accident on it. Welcome to te group and thanks for the pics, now I know I am missing my centerstand :good2:
