Title: 84 1100 needle setting
Post by: fj11.5 on September 21, 2011, 12:52:38 AM
Hi all, not sure if this effects bottom end running , but I've raised the needles from second last to the last clip slot, stopped the popping at idle, , standard jets and air pods fitted, should I've tried it before taking the next oversized jets out would it be worthwhile fitting the larger ones back in ? Not fussed about fuel consumption , but don't want to just waist it from Being rich

Bottom-end is mainly controlled by the pilot jets and pilot air correctors, and is adjusted using the mixture screws.
Needle position mainly affects mid-range, 1/3 thru 3/4 throttle.
Main jets mainly affect top-end, Wide Open Throttle.... but each circuit affects the others slightly.

You went WAY too rich on the needles, should be adjusting the mixture screws to about 4 turns out. If you go more than 4 turns, you need to go a step up on the pilot jets....
