Hello everyone,
I'm almost home...
Stopped at my sainted mother's home for dinner (Sunday evening) on the way home - filled her in on the Rally -leaving here for home (about four hours away) in the morning.
Don't have a computer at home so from here I thought I would say thank you for the hospitality to everyone...
Take care,
Mike Ramos.

We did get home here about 9:45. Made a couple of extra stops, no problems, just the usual. Blue was happy to see his kitties!

Now I'm off and running to pick up the rest of my animals from various places today.

Had a grand time riding with my best riding partner, NancyG!

Home safe at 5PM today.
Thanks to you all for a great time for this first-time, flatlander.
You guys really know how to ride!

Special thanks to:
Randy, for your hospitality and the guiding hand to my first rally.
Henry, for helping share the Captain.
Nancy G and Nancy R, for being our den mothers.
Carey, Jim S., and Dean, for you light-hearted antics.
Bill P., for your great advice, it helped a lot!
Jeff, for hanging in behind me during the rides.
Blue, the wonder-dog. What else is there to say!
Mike Ramos, for making us ALL look like a bunch of pussies!
Dan Lewis, for the nice ride to the Fontana Dam and the long talk that night at Tellico Beach.
tRoy, we never rode together, but I enjoyed the talks around the campfire.

You made me feel like a part of the family and I can't wait to come to another rally!

Yep great to see everybody as always.  Good riding and hanging out.  Good to meet you Leon, hope to see you back down there someday.  And Iron Bike Mike is my new hero ...Spies is out.

Went on google maps to find which dam it is that's visible from the gap overlook - It is the Calderwood Dam not Cheoah like we were guessing.  TVA has a LOT of dams up there.

Also, we were wondering about the History of Tellico Plains and I found this page.. Lots of cool info.

That link has this picture of a train running along the top of bald river falls, looks nothing like this now:

Oh so depressing! Or the real riding time here in FL is just beginning, that is if you like flat roads and no curves.

It's my favorite time of the year to ride in Va..  from now to mid Nov it's usually still warm enough and soon the leaves will be changing.  Might try to get up one last overnighter to W. Va in October.

It was great to meet you too, Leon... thanks for going with the flow!

Thanks to everyone for another great rally, and to everyone involved in putting together the cookout!

Special thanks to Carey and Henry for leading the way back to Tellico on a very dark (and made darker by a tinted shield), damp and cold night.

Extra special thanks to Bill and Mike for saving a full day of my rally riding!

Let's do it again in May!      :good2:

Nice, but they missed me of course. But then again, Friday, I believe that was a day I came thru later.

Also hopefully this place http://thecottonpickininn.com/ (http://thecottonpickininn.com/) will stay in business till next year. Lori Hunt of Hunt's Lodge gave it glowing reports.

Okay, so some of us didn't do the best job of calculating tire life before the ECFR this year (maybe some of the new pavement in the area helped with that   :i_am_so_happy:).

Take this one, for example...  what to do?

Since the tire needing replacement was a 17", a suitable emergency tire was found (a 190 pinched onto the 5" YZF600 wheel apparently WILL just fit onto the FJ )  Soon, busy hands set about making the swap...

<insert standard disclaimer about tire/rim width mismatch here>

Ahhh.. success!    :good2:

But wait... the bead doesn't want to seat!      :nea:

Okay... that didn't go well, but having failed (miserably), yet another intrepid mechanic takes a shot:

Despite this, an air tank was procured, and the install was made successfully...

Didn't you east coast guys go thru that with big Tim Collins a couple of years back?

Hmmm... I don't remember Tim needing one, but Henry did need tires about 3 Fall rallies in a row, IIRC.      :bomb:

I've done it, but usually bring a spare rim and tire.  This time I failed...
