Title: FJ1200 carb settings
Post by: jeffwest5599 on September 18, 2011, 02:41:42 PM
Can anyone tell me the settings for the carbs on a1987 FJ1200.   They have been cleaned and I was wondering what I should set the sync screws and the small flathead screws on the top and then tune from there.  If anyone could help out I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

Hey Jeff,

1) The idle mixture screws set to 3 turns out (from fully screwed in)
2) Set the idle screw for aprox 1100 rpm to get a rough idle (choke off)...the screw is located in the middle accessable from below the carbs.
3) Now...balance your carbs with the 3 screws between the carbs (accessable from above)
screw#1 is between carbs 1 and 2;
screw# 2 is between carbs 3 and 4 and;
the third screw #3 located in the middle between carbs 2 and 3.

To balance: Balance carbs 1 and 2 (with screw #1); then balance carbs 3 and 4 (with screw #2); then balance the left 2 carbs (3/4) with the right 2 carbs(1/2) with the center screw #3.

4) Now, with the carbs balanced, go back and set your warm idle to 1000 rpm.

Work fast. The air cooled FJ engine will overheat if left idling too long. A box fan will help keep your engine from cooking... still work fast.

Cheers!
