Hi all, glad to be here and have had my 1986 FJ1200 1TX for a few months now...she was in a sorry state but up and running with a few niggles to sort out .
I have had bikes since i was 16 and owned over 30 in my time , guess that shows my age and im not hanging up me boots yet :good:
Have quite a bit of bike knowledge but get stuck on the technical side sometimes so hope to get some advice and give advice if i can .

Nice to hear there`s still some 1tx`s still on the road :good: carbs were a big issue that i have sorted now and im enjoying riding the bike now . Owned quite a few back breaking sport bikes but im impressed with this FJ seeing that its 25 years old :biggrin:
Welcome, fj ste. I know how you feel about the FJ. Last year I had to sell one of my two bikes to buy the wife a car.
Sold the 96 BMW R1100RT and kept the 89 FJ. It was a no-brainer choice. I've put 16k miles on it in 17 months. I absolutely love it. When funds permit, I will own an 86 or 87. Gotta have an FJ with a 16" front wheel. Where are you in the UK? I spent four weeks in Chester in the mid 90's. Loved it. Where else can you buy a pint of ale called "Pissin in the Wind" in a pub that was built in the 18th century? Wales was awesome, too.
I'm kind of a lurker. Spend a couple hours on here every night just reading. But on the few occasions I've needed advice/help, got it immediately and plenty of it. Even did something really stupid once and admitted to it in the forum, fully expecting to get hacked on. Nobody did! Although I haven't checked that thread lately.
You are in good hands here. Ive learnt more about just bikes in general on here than anywhere else!

Im from northamptonshire cyclenutk75 :good: Never heard of that pint but yes its true the uk has some wierd and wonderfull places ...just about exploring and finding them out . Pity i only just got the FJ on the road as the weather seems to be closing in of late , gale force winds and much colder . Wont put me of riding though , must say the FJ is a heavy bike esp when trying to pull onto centre stand :shok: All that weight disappears when on the move though and its quite suprising how well it handles combined with the smooth power delivery . Fitted top box and throw overs at the weekend and its looking the part now ....
Next project will be junking the airbox for pod filters "yes ive read how the set up can be problematic" :biggrin: But jeez that standard airbox is a pain to re-install ...looking at how many times ive had the carbs off it will pay me to switch to pod filters and keep them reg cleaned .
