Title: Petcocks Question
Post by: nvmike24 on September 07, 2011, 07:01:13 AM
I  pulled the tank to inspect my 84. Sure enough my outlet fitting moved very easily. I squeezed it back into proper position and wired it into place. I found out also that when the hose is off fuel drips out the fitting with the hose off and no vacuum from the engine is supplied. Petcock not being available I am wondering what to do. Can the newer petcock be installed in its place or is the newer fuel tank design able to be fitted without changing other items?

Hey Mike, I moved your question out of the Files Section and into this section.

You have a leaky petcock.
3 options: 1) Buy the O rings and spring and rebuild your old one
               2) Buy a new petcock. Yes the new oem vacuum petcocks are still available for the 84/85 FJ's.
               3) Go to a aftermarket petcock. See Randy @ RPM, he has the Pingel petcocks.
Cheers! Pat

They are available they just cost alot. Yours is the 2nd most expensive one.  :dash1:
86-87 are alot more but priceless if it keeps your bike from catching on fire.  Feel free to chime in Dan.
89 later are cheap.
