Title: Timing Cover Bolts
Post by: racerrad8 on September 02, 2011, 05:00:29 PM
Is there any interest in stainless steel timing cover bolts. They are available in two styles; Button or Taper head.

They will run somewhere in the area or $30-32 if I do add them to stock. I am 90* sure I am going to add them to stock, I just need to know quantities.

If you are interested please let me know.

I like both of them, I think taper head would be my choice so I had a chance to hold onto them with oily fingers as I am doing right now.

I like the button-heads..... I'd get 4 for mine.  I need to order a smoked taillight with flashers soon, too.  Will the grommets/seals be included?

If you are asking about the rubber seals for the cover, you will have to use your old ones over. The rubber seal is not servicable seperately from the bolt so, I would have to buy bolts to sell you seals.

This is what the mushrooms ones look like when fitted.

That's something new.... I bought the seals separately , but it was many years ago....  10 or more.

Well, now I will have to look a little deeper. I checked my parts book I have here and it only shows the sold together. I will do some research.

Rich is right, I also bought the seals alone, but it's been a few years.

I just looked over on the boats.net breakdown for crankshaft cover and they only show it like my book has it; #3 (http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1993/FJ1200AE/CRANKCASE%20COVER%201/parts.html (http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1993/FJ1200AE/CRANKCASE%20COVER%201/parts.html)).
At that point I checked a couple of years and there was no part number listed either.

If either of you have the part number could you send it over and I will check on stocking them.

Just to confirm, we are talking about the timing cover bolt grommets right...?

Yep, the cover that the ignition pick-up(s) are under....  I don't have the bag any more, I don't think I do, anyways.  I'll look around tomorrow.  I'm at work 'til 5:30AM.

The stainless steel timing cover bolt kits are now in stock. I only ordered a couple sets of each to try and judge interest. You can find them here:

Button Head (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M%2FC%3AButton/)
Taper Head (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M%2FC%3ATaper/)

I looked at the fiche link provided which is the same as the other breakdowns I have seen. The bolt listed as #3 is the bolt/seal combo, I have not been able to locate a part number for the seal only.

I can't find the bag the seals came in, must have thrown it away..... And I see on the 'fiche that they don't list them separately anymore. It has been a few years since I bought them....   :dash1:
