Howdy all, I'm buying a 1991 FJ1200, and wanted to check out the list. Here's the bike, for all you voyeurs out there: http://cedarrapids.craigslist.org/mcy/2550817319.html (http://cedarrapids.craigslist.org/mcy/2550817319.html)
It has only 11k miles, is in perfect (I mean sparkling) shape, and comes with Krauser K2 side cases and a Rifle system touring windscreen.
I've been riding an '84 Honda V65 Sabre for the last year and a half, basically looks like this:http://i.ebayimg.com/t/1984-Honda-V65-Sabre-Factory-Photo-/18/!CBvGWz!!2k~$(KGrHqV,!k0Ez+4c2S6+BNI2C5J7C!~~0_3.JPG
It's been a great bike, with tons of power. I'm looking for something sportier, yet still tourable, and I stumbled across this gem of an FJ.
The current owner has taken excellent care of it, and modified it very tastefully. Humurously, his beer gut has grown to the point where the FJ is no longer comfortable, and now he wants a big tourer. Good for him, great for me.
The Krauser cases look a bit goofy, as the blue is a couple shades lighter than the midnight blue of the bike. But, they're damn sturdy and pretty big. Maybe I could custom paint them to match the bike?
I plan on adding a Scot oiler, and will probably upgrade the suspension soon. As far as I can tell, it has enough power already. :diablo:
I live in Cedar Rapids, IA, and grew up around here. But, I spent 9 years flying B-1 bombers in the Air Force. Maybe that's why I like big, fast, 80s machines? (B-1B, V65, and now an FJ?)
Any list members in or near Iowa?
Thanks,
Tim
Hello Tim and welcome to the clubhouse.
That is a beautiful FJ you are looking at. If you have not already purchased it, run and buy it NOW. Hell, under 12k miles and looks to be in showroom condition.
These are comfortable and rugged bikes that give many satisfying years of service. Though they don't do any one thing great, they do everything well. You will not be disappointed. And with all the inexpensive mods and upgrades, you can custom tailor her to be perfect for any riding style.
Ride safe,
CraigO
Hi Tim.
I'm from up around Mason City and own a 91 FJ.
Like Craig said, jump on that bike before someone else grabs it.
You can't go wrong.
I bought mine a year ago with over 30K on it, and it runs and looks great.
Buy that sucker within the next couple of weeks and you can join me on my run to Tellico Plains Tn for the East Coast Fall Rally.
I'll be going through CR, monday the 12th of sept.
Leon
sweet find! :good2:
Welcome to the group and enjoy your new ride.
KOokaloo! (you will figure out what that means once you twist the throttle past 7K RPM in second/third gear  )
Welcome here Tim. Nice looking FJ there.
For a moment there, I thought Leon has put ugly bags on his FJ, and put it up for sale...

What a find! That is the bike we all look for. You might end up having a few problems with leaks because it sat for so long, but a few hundred miles should swell the seals and show you what the bike really is.
What a deal. Congrats.
RUN !!! Get it NOW :yahoo: :wacko3:
