I just read this on my FB page from Hunt's Lodge:
"Hunt's Lodge Motorcycle Campground & Cabins
We have just found out Tennessee is working on repaving the Cherohala Skyway all the way from Hwy 360 in Tellico Plains to the TN/NC state line. They will have the road down to one lane at a time between now and the end of September, when they expect to have the work done. Their website says something about intermittent road closure on weekdays, but does not elaborate about what that means."

This is from the "Tail of the Dragon" web site.
"The Cherohala Skyway is being repaved on the Tennessee side beginning Saturday July 30 and will be on-going for 22 days. There will be one-lane traffic in work areas with a Follow Me vehicle in service. The new surface will be a micro-seal (thin layer of tar). There is no gravel involved (no chip and seal). The new surface will be dry and no damage to vehicles should occur."
Hopefully this will be done by rally time.
