Title: engune bars
Post by: beanbagsj on August 11, 2011, 07:23:58 PM
I have an 1986 fj1200. I just got my engine bars ren10019b. I went to put them on and the rear tab is half an inch off the frame. Is that the way they are supposed to be ?

NO...... they should fit better than that ( well the later model ren10021 on my '91 do anyway).

I can't be absolutely sure with your with yours....... did they come with the stand-off spacer and bolt that replaces the OEM bolt at the back mounting position?

Photos would help

get all the bolts loosely fitted before tightening any of them.

i had some issues with mine not wanting to fit correctly and it was because i had tightened the front mounting bolts tight before starting the rear bolt.

KOokaloo!

You may have to come up with a dowel to go around the bolt, between the bracket and the bike.

As frank said loosely fit it and you will get an idea of how long it needs to be.

I put the engine bars on the bike. I ended up with a 1/4 inch gap above the foot pegs I will cut down some round bar another day to fill the gap.
