Title: 89 percent of weather stations fail to meet the NWS's own siting requirements.

89 percent of weather stations fail to meet the National Weather Service's own siting requirements, according to a survey of over 70% of the weather stations in the U.S.

I don't know if anyone here follows Anthony Watts' blog, Watts Up With That (http://www.wattsupwiththat.com), but the research he is doing on AGW is fascinating and compelling.  One of his pet projects, Surface Stations (http://httt://www.surfacestations.org), has just produced its first report.

Here is the bog entry (http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/05/10/a-report-on-the-surfacestations-project-with-70-of-the-ushcn-surveyed/), and here is the report (http://wattsupwiththat.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/surfacestationsreport_spring09.pdf) (PDF, 4 MB).

As far as I can tell, this isn't the kind of science that should be ignored, but I'm quite certain that none of the MSM will cover it.
