I'm a track worker at the corkscrew for the weekend.
During the yamaha parade laps led by Eddie Lawson and Kenny Roberts I spotted a clean FJ with 17" rear wheel. Possibly a 91.
Good news was, no asshats crashed! Lol

He-he it was me-I was there on the track with the RZ/RD-500 owner's group. RZTOM sent me the GREEN wrist band to park in the Yamaha Corral-with a bunch of RZ/RD-500s and RZ350s. Then we were lead by Kenny and Eddie on R1s. I didn't bring my RZ-I rode my '91 FJ from Sacramento.
It was great to be back on Laguna after 30 years-last time was 1981 on my Seca 550 with the AFM...oh the memories came flooding back-a bit different track though. It was still a BLAST :yahoo:!

Xray still shows a broken scapula and separated shoulder, but i'm feeling a lot better. Although the doc says i still shouldnt ride until it's fully healed. So i'm hoping for next month to ride.
Oh! i'm going to look at a 1996 Triumph Tiger today! if it's in good shape i'm going to purchase it. And i am going to keep the FJ. for some reason i like her. That and i dont have $10k to get something THAT much better. like a Tuono :yes: lol

Hmmm,you're a good rider, well, apart from the crashing stuff, so you may be underwhelmed by the '96 Tiger, mate.
Unless you're after a "Soft Roader"?
I've only had a short ride on one, nice bike, but, meh.not for me.
I like my 1050 Tiger though, it's a sport bike with no pretensions of off road ability..
Have a look at a Yamaha TDM as a soft roader too, they are inexpensive, go really well and have some parts commonality with other Yammies.

wow! Klavdy, how right you are mate! i bought the Tiger for $1,900. pretty decent deal i figured. but riding it home, which i wasnt supposed to do according to the doc but thats another story, it handled like utter crap!
granted it has brand new tkc 80's on it. i've never ridden a bike with knobbies, are they supposed to be that crappy?! the fork dive is deadly to say the least. there's a bunch of stuff that i need to work out to get her in condition good enough for an "adventure".
my main reason for wanting a bike of this nature was to get to death valley and see the sliding rocks, while being able to enjoy the twisties on the way there. i took the FJ the first time. it was great!! i loved it. but when i got there, apparently there is a 27 mile dirt road labeled "4x4" only to get to the actual sliding rocks. The area known as "the racetrack". I felt defeated and was determined to return with a capable bike with the dirt ability and range to do so. Enter the tiger. cheap enough and people say it's a hoot. but after riding it, i'm not so sure, lol. sure, the bmw GS is available, but i dont have that kind of cash, and KLR's are too slow.
I'm going to give her the love she deserves with some suspension bits and maintenance. hopefully she'll impress me and i'll keep her. now i've got a supersport, sport tourer and adventure. things are seemingly going well.
oh, and i know the Tuono isn't 10k. but i have noticed the price of bikes over here has gone up just a lil. hopefully, my next bike will be a Tuono!

That's a great deal at $1,900.
At that price, it won't matter when it gets buggered up a bit on the dirt.
New fork springs, shock rebuild, (Randy, can you do Kayaba shock rebuilds) grease up or replace the bearings and leave it at that.
Engines are stout,reliable and go well.
