Hi everybloody , , had the bike in for inspection today, the guy picked what he thinks should be fixed, ., front axel nut isnt castelated and has no pin through it , forks are 89fj 12 with the thread inside the left fork lower , and the spare is the same , anybody else have that set up ? , other problem was the indicators wouldnt stay on unless the button is held , i had gotten used to it, have the switch apart to clean it but only one will stay on till its cancelled , anyone help ?
Don't the front axle have a pinch bolt to lock it in place...
Yes it sure does, as i thought , he,s a wanker, maybe he needs an upclose inspection, , mind u he rides a honda :p
My 1990 FJ just has a pinch bolt. That's the way it came from Yamaha. On the turn signal all I can suggest is take it apart and see if its binding, try a bit of silicone spray. Good luck:).
Inspector is a wanker.
Safety wiring the axle isn't a bad idea nonetheless, but absolutely not required.
i understand what he,s on about , as most bikes have the pin and" cast" nut f& r for safety ,but the axle also screws into the left fork leg , , will try and educate him today :) . . . will buy some silly spray and try that,, have taken it apart and cleaned all the contacts , if i cant fix it will buy an xjr s,block and retro fit it , , thanks for the input ppl , ,
how to educate a wanker.... rip out the front axle,, go the the inspector and explain to the fool how an fj is built,, proved my point and he agreed that he is indeed a wanker,, or words to that effect :yahoo:
Might show him a page in the service manual. Can the "wanker" read pictures ? :)
Funny you should say that ,i had 2 manuals in the car just in case
