Been riding and working on bikes for 35 yrs but just never worked on or owned a Yamaha before, maybe they were avoiding me.
Just p/u an 84 FJ1100 at a good price. It has been ridden hard at times and cosmetically it almost looks like a rat bike but I think mechanically it is sound and ready for a new lease on life. The bike has been in perfect storage for the past 10 yrs, on blocks in a heated garage, fresh oil every year (at least this is what the P/O has told me but I didn't see any reason to disbelieve him after seeing his set up) turned over a couple of times per year, 55,000 kms, lots of brake and suspension upgrades, 2nd gear done already.
I have LOTS of questions but I'll hunt through the archives first before pestering you guys with them.
Gotta say, you guys have built quite a site here, tons of good info, practically no back biting, and a very open welcoming feeling.
Thanks,
Chris
Welcome Chris to the world of FJs. It sounds like you should fit in well around here. Get us some pics of your baby.

Hi Chris and welcome.
If you can't find the answers mate, just ask...........the knowledge will be floating around in the back of someones head I'm sure.

Welcome to the group!
you will find the FJ to be a willing partner in both power and handling.
sure there are improvements that can be made to make it even better but IMO the base package is one of the best ever made :good2:
KOokaloo!
Chris,
You now own one of the BEST all around motorcycles ever built. There are very few bikes out there that can carve the canyons with ease as well as go all the way from ocean to ocean in comfort.
Enjoy your new bike and welcome to the club.

Welcome Chris.

Welcome Chris... :hi:
Sounds like you found yourself a rare 84. Good brakes, good suspension, all the important stuff looked after already. 55,000km is barely broke in. Should have lots of happy fun miles to go..
What part of Ontario? Barrie here.
Cheers...Jake
Welcome Chris,
Paul from Napanee, here. :hi: You"ll love your bike! Lots of power, comfortable, and easy to maintain! Great bunch of guys here, too. :good2:
Hey Chris, where in Ontario? Welcome and enjoy!
I'm just outside of a little town called Tottenham that is about halfway between Barrie and Toronto.
