Title: Happy Fathers Day Story
Post by: 1tinindian on June 19, 2011, 10:46:39 PM
First, let me wish all you fathers out there a late happy wishes!

And now my story.
I decided I wanted to celebrate my fathers day this year with my 2 boys by taking a nice little ride.
My youngest, on the red Radian has only been on a street bike just a couple times prior to this day, so me and my oldest boy were watching out for him.
We started out with an easy 15 mile ride around the country side, then we went to see my dad.
Then we took off on what turned out to be another 100 mile ride.
The day was beautiful and we rode a little beyond the range of the Radians small ass tank, about 10 miles too far!
But the reserve got him home, and made for an interesting end to our ride.
As a father of two wonderful sons, I was very proud to have been able to spend fathers day with them, enjoying something we could all take a part in.

The pictures here show us at a couple of stops along the way.

And to top off such a great day, the three of us retook a picture from 15 years ago, funny how some things change (the boys), while others stay the same, (me and the Suzuki).

Thanks for sharing, Leon.  Nice pix of you & your sons.  Your picture with the boys on your Suzuki remind me of starting out on my Dad's Cushman Super Eagle, riding on the gas tank (I was 7 at the time!).

I too spent the day with my Dad and my brother.  We at least talked bikes, but didn't get to ride.

Leon, where's the red car?

We have to wait for Fathers' day until September over here (or is it October?).
It is always a joy to go motorcycling with offspring.

I thought the same thing When I saw it.  Leon for clarity, this is me agreeing with David, not criticizing your picture.

Leon, thanks for posting such a nice story with pictures, very cool. Regarding gear, it looks like the pants worked OK, at least the first time... :sarcastic:

David and Dan,

I have bought him some gear, and suggested he wear it that day, but he chose not to.
It was a warm day.
I wasn't going to ruin such a good day by getting into a fight over a jacket.
As you can see, all turned out OK.
Thanks for the concern though!

Here is what he does have up to this point, for gear.

Leon,
Thanks for sharing those pics. They bring back a lot of great memories. My dad has been gone right at 2 years now, motorcycles were our primary hobby. We rode dirt bikes together from the time I was 7 until I was about 20. We found an old picture when he was riding up the driveway with 3 of us kids on his 1973 Bonneville, 1 on the tank, 2 on the pillion.  :wacko3: Great to see you have something like motorcycles to share with your sons. The Radian also strikes a chord, I bought a 1986 Radian identical to your sons, brand new. Rode it just a little bit over 10,000 miles before it was stolen out of my apartment parking lot one Saturday night :ireful:Loved that bike, did every thing pretty well, ran better than a little 2 valve 600 ought to! Anyway, enjoy as much time with your sons as possible, keep them in gear as much as possible
