I´ve used 10-40 w motor oil instead the OE recommended 10w fork oil in my CBX with optimum results, and much more cheaper!. I´m thinking to use 5-50 w fully sint motor oil in OE quantities in my FJ fronk fork, thinner that the 10-40 w on
What do you think?. The 5-50 oil is Mobil 1

If you're going to change to an alternative to the fork oil, at least use a hydraulic oil that is high detergent and intended for this kind of use. ie; ATF
Be aware that there are 3 different viscosities of ATF.
Choose the one you want.
Chrysler ATF+3 = 10W
Dextron 3/Mercon = 15W
Type F = 20W
Any of these would be a better choice than motor oil.

My fork is fitted with hagon springs and usually with 10w in OE quantities. But I´ve thinking about fill the fork with 5-50w because the 10-40 w works fine in my Honda, the Yamaha FJ 1100 mannual recommend 10-30 motor oil and ´cause now MOTREX sells an expensive 10-30 fork oil saying the excellences of the multigrade fork oil, (I think they have discovered the motor oil again)
