I have a problem with a fuel leak on my 85 fj1100. There is a hose that goes from the right side of the carb and goes to the ignition igniter on the left side of the bike and it is a consistent drip. I am wondering what would cause fuel to flow freely from the carb to the module. Over a period of 6 hours, my tank leaked out two gallons through this problem. Would it be as simple as a carb rebuild kit? A gasket problem? No idea where to start. :dash2:

1st, that hose should be attached to the vacuum port in the carb manifold, it supplies vacuum to the "booster"(advancer). It should not be attached to the carb.
2nd, sounds like you need to replace the fuel needle seat o-rings, and probably go thru the carbs.... as well as reseal the petcock.
If the vacuum line has fuel running through it like that, could a bad petcock seal be the problem? I did notice that when I went to remove the gas tank, I shut the fuel valve off, but when I disconnected the actual line to fully remove the tank, the shutoff was still letting quite a bit of fuel out. It was not completely shutting it off. What should I look for for replacement parts if that is the problem?
Petcock has 2 positions prime and on.Should be in the on position.Prime will let gas flow freely on will let gas flow when carbs need fuel.I.M.O.Either your needle and seats are shot or your floats heights are wrong.Pull your carbs floats should be .880" from carb body.
Ok well first the vac line should not have fuel in it and it only works the auto shut off part of the valve ....And I have bad news the inside parts of the petcock can not be had ANYWERE I just had to buy a new one and I only needed the bisket Take your valve apart if your bicket(the black round deal behind the on/prime lever) is good I will sell you a good valve all it needs is the bisket for Like $25.00
Carbs have 6 hoses coming of the bottom that tuck down into the frame.Fuel coming out of them is from the carbs not the petcock.Carbs are overfilling. There is a hose from the ignitor that runs to the intake between carb #2 and the engine. There is a hose that runs from petcock to intake between carb #1 and the engine.Prime is to fill float bowls prior to restarting after going through carbs.Once they are full set petcock back to on.
I will let you know what I find. How much do you want for the assembly?
