Just checking in.
I'm going by memory but what I recall is:
Use the green Dyna 3.0 ohm coils with the stock FJ ignition
Use the grey 2.2 ohm Dyna coils if upgrading to the Dynatec 2000CDI
Correctamundo?
Can't wait for the WCR!!!

I'm fairly sure Brian Hunt is running the green coils with the Dynatec ignition. He ran the coils just fine with the stock FJ ignition, and switched when it crapped out.
I *think* you can run the green coils either stock or Dynatech, but wasn't a great idea to run the grey coils with stock ignition.
Very much looking forward to the rally. Can't wait to get out of of Porkland for a few days.

i'm running the gray coils with my Dyna ignition.
Eric M is running the green coils with his stock ignition.....
howzat? :good2:
ok, thanks guys...
When I ordered mine, I called DYNA and their tech guy told me the green ones....that's with the DYNA box, not OEM.
Interesting, they told me to use the gray ones with the Dyna ignition, which is what I've been running for about 30,000 miles now.

That's the same as what they told me earlier this week.

same... tech guy said use gray coils with dyna ignition module.... :good2:
Hey Rich, here's what I found at the Z1 site:

For Dyna Greys:
Dyna Dual Output 2.2 Ohm Coils (pair) DC4-1
DYDC4-1 OEM: DC4-1
2.2 ohm grey coils. Replacement for factory coils. Matched to the Dyna 2000 Electronic Ignitions. Fatter spark means smoother running and less chance of fouling a plug. See below for plug wires.
Never select a coil with a lower resistance than your ignition system - this will cause the coils to overheat and burn out... It is OK to select coils with a slightly higher resistance.

For Dyna Green Coils:
Dyna Dual Output 3.0 Ohm Coils (pair) DC1-1
DYDC1-1 OEM: DC1-1 -
DYDC1-1. 3 ohm green coils. Replacement for factory coils. Matched to the Dyna-S Electronic Ignitions. Fatter spark means smoother running and less chance of fouling a plug. See below for plug wires.
Check the resistance of the coils you are replacing to ensure a correct match. These coils work to replace some point system coils where the resistance is in the low to mid 3 ohm range. For some Kawasaki bikes with a resistor in the circuit (i.e. KZ1000's in the late 70's and early 80's), the 3 ohm coil is the best choice - just remove the ballast resistor from the circuit. If you have questions if these are correct, please call us or Dynatek at 1-800-928-3962
