Title: Hello from Victoria, BC
Post by: EskimoDave on April 29, 2009, 06:11:04 PM
I'm a little late from the yahoo group too ... I was a lurker there until just last week when I had a question about exhausts. That is being taken care of as we speak so in the meantime I should post here and make myself less of a stranger.

I have a 1985 FJ1100 which is stock except for a supertrapp exhaust and I'm missing the belly pan. I am planning a trip in the next few days to see some old friends in Edmonton ... then a week in Inuvik to see family, hence the eskimo in my moniker ... and then a move to Ontario on the bike no less. Most of my stuff will be mailed or shipped to me later but I really wanted to take the bike to do this move. It's a little over 5,000Kms on the bike so I hope the old girl holds together ... actually I hope I hold together too.

Nice to see lots of old faces here ... I will definitely take more time to post here ... seems like a great group again!

Hey Dave...[waving from Ontario]...welcome.. :hi:
Sounds like you have quite a trip in front of you. I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy it. And I'm he sure the FJ will get you here.
What part of Ontario are you heading for? And why are you leaving Victoria?? :cray:..that place is like a piece of heaven.

Cheers...Jake

Victoria is a beautiful city and the ("quote-unquote") year round riding is nice ... the rain wasn't too bad this year, it was the 3 week of snow that kept us all off the roads. But alas I was laid off from my job in August and have been making ends meet with contract work ever since so I figured it was time to get back into the work force and it seems as though Ontario is doing better than BC at the moment.

I used to live in Haileybury, up past North Bay so I am heading there first and then I'd love to find work in either Nrth Bay, Sudbury or Ottawa but I would move to TO as well if need be.

I will definitley post some ride reports ... and just to be clear I am not driving to Inuvik, I will be flying. I was just there about 3weeks ago though and some guy had driven his BMW up the Dempster in a snow suit ... it was -30 while I was there for a few days so you know he was devoted to biking!
