If you can troubleshoot it to the carbs (which is what it totally sounds like, incidentally), the guide you want to follow is here (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=655.0). Explains the lot.
I strongly suggest buying this (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=carbkit&cat=24) kit, also. It'll make your life...oh... a zilliontybillion times easier if you ever need to go back into the carbs again.
that whole kit is 22.00 dollars? thats a pretty good deal

Hmmm, good idea Kim but for now, maybe try to answer a couple of things before you start with the valves and compression tests.
How do you know the carbs are clean?
Did you take them apart and clean them or just look at the outside of them?
The more info you can provide, the better the prognosis.
Cheers
wow i love how i mentioned something about carbs earlier and i was completly wrong but yet now you mention it? What an odd world....

Hush now Irishkook, adults are talking.
Yes, you are completely wrong, you do not know what you are talking about.
Do you even read the bilge that you dribble before posting or does it just spew forth like a Tourettes afflicted child?
You cannot be taken seriously, you don't know shit from clay.
Go play with your blocks or design a website or something.
so then why are you talking?
im pretty sure i do know what im talking bout, fact is, you had to bash what i posted before, then you realized "oh hes right" and had to mention something.
funny how the world goes round, bet you can ask me any mechanical question and i can anwser it as well as you can
What is the firing order on the FJ1200?
Which coils fire which cylinders?
Klav, You know he is right He is 20
1-2-4-3
first coil 1-3
2nd coil 2-4
next question?
Well, that only took a two week ban to sink in, you're making progress.
O.K, what is "something along the lines of an ultra sonic machine?"
And, how do you tell if your FJ1200 has a cross-plane crank?
we already established that
and a ultra sonic machine? you want me to explain what that is?
Klav, Don't feed him he KNOWS everything and then sum (he has worked on Mopars & mustangs)
dont forget jeeps too

alot of jewlry places use them, mechanic shops. tattoo shops.
they are used to clean small parts, and they are really good at doing it.
Hell my shop and all the shops around here in the area use them to clean carbs.

The question is what is "something along the lines of an ultra sonic machine?"
What is the "Something"?
Bashing you?
You are bashing yourself.
Read back through your posts, seems that every single time you get given correct information you decide that it is wrong.
what cause i didnt post a clear enough picture up when i was using a camera phone with no flash cause my camera broke? or the fact that i happen to misspell a couple of words?
and there is also a pressure clave and a special cleaner, not sure what its called but you can stick carbs or anything else in it and it basically spins it and cleans it.

NO!!Don't ban him, he'll learn, once he gets over being young and dumb.
You might need him to redesign your websites while we're riding to the WCR and back.
oh and there was the fact that someone mis understand that i was uploading from my phone instead of a computer. and maybe the fact that i was confused about a bracket i saw on the diagram, thats it.
Building a forum isnt hard, Building 2 right now for work. actually using this exact same program, very nice too.
So maybe im not the best at working on motorcycle, but i do know a great deal how to fix motorcycles and cars, mostly from trial and error its how we all learn.

I'm out...
I am here to be a part of all that is FJ and offer assistance when I can, unfortunately Irishluck is anypart of FJ that I want to be a part of. If he wants to get his FJ running he should ask the question, do his research and quit arguing with everyone here who has something to offer.
I can relate him to a squid on a ride; WFO in a straight line...puttin through the corners.
Marsh, send me an email when he has gotten his FJ "fixed up".
Respectfully, Randy

Yea, come on guys, lighten the fuck up. Sure, the kid's got some issues but there's no need to dog pile on him.
He agreed to my conditions so I'm gonna help him. Remember....He's got a FJ, so he can't be all bad...Let's help him out.
Marsh remember Giovanni? He was violently threatening....Irishdude seems (to me) pretty mellow for all the shit we have given him.
He's just a kid for Christ's sake.....
Who is George B of the forum?
Randy:
Im not trying to argue with anyone, but as it seems ive already made a rep for myself. Since im back the second time around all im trying to do is get my bikes up and running for rideing and racing purposes.
All i did this time was ask about a bracket on the 91 frame and then everything goes bad.

Irishdude: PITA?-Yes
Ban?-No
He may come around. And he doesn't have to leave after he gets his FJ running/fixed. All (well, most) kids grow up eventually. Sometimes they actually become adults you enjoy being around too!
And I don't think we should ban someone just because he colors outside the lines. We don't want to become a snooty 'club', do we?

My vote is NO.
I've been well entertained.
I also remember when I thought I knew it all.
And I have a vague recollection of not being able to spell or use punctuation.
Lets keep Mr Irishluck.......... after all, when I'm dead and buried, he is still going to be riding an FJ (hopefully).

Once again reminds me to NEVER NEVER NEVER piss Klavdy off....(take note Irishdude) ssssshh.

Your snide comments get real old real fast. We try to tell you something you are coming back with a snappy reply almost instantly.
I would be happy to let you stay BIG BUTT things have got to change. Spend some $$ and get a Factory maintains manual (it is your bible for the FJ) most of your questions would be answered and then what does not make any seance ask.
If you can put up with that I say let him stay, If not OFF WITH HIS HEAD.
Irish the dissension is yours.
MY vote keep him for the time being

i do have a manual already though... reason why i was asking about the brackets is cause there was 2 different ones i did not understant, but later found out from someone that one of them was a bracket for the lower cowl i did not know about, kinda forgot too that it had a lower cowl(mine didnt come with one)

And take note of the fact that Chris stated he did not know much about bikes, asked pertinent questions in English, replied with information when asked, took the advice given, and has been much helped and welcomed roundly. Might even be riding a running FJ as we speak.
I voted NO, hard to admit that I was once young and possibly emotional on positions that were really logical. We all learn, some quickly, others not so much. Irishluck should have his time to hone and temper what he will become, should he chose to stay and take part in this Fj club. I am free to ignore him if he behaves badly towards me or others. In fact we don't need Marsh to ban anyone. If we collectively ignore him, it will perform the same effect. I am happy to see others are willing to give him a chance. This does not mean that I/We will not respond in kind to outbursts and other undesired behavior. Some of the free advice and information you can get here would be costly to purchase from others.

Yes - until he completes puberty
Some folks here (USA) already did and it's not working out so good. Maybe we need to change again!
My vote has been changed.
Remove the troll!
He's stinking up an otherwise, awesome forum.
Isn't all this a bit unfair?
I voted to keep him on and i won't change that.
Didn't we all start our biking careers somewhere and looked to those who could help us out until we also gained "the knowledge", and then we pass on that knowledge.
I've never come across a forum where this went on for this sort of thing. I lost it a bit last night with irish, but so what. I've seen people banned for using bad language or abuse etc on other forums, and i must confess i've been one of them, which i stated in my very first post on here.
I don't know how old irish is, he seems quite young, i'm 49. The kids of today ain't like us, but with help from us who have been there, bought the t shirt, hopefully he'll come through.
Or am i just being optimistic and looking through rose tinted spectacles? :scratch_one-s_head: :flag_of_truce:

he says he has an electrical problem.... he says he has a multimeter and knows how to use it..... still electrical problem exsists..... now electrical gremlins have spread thru his entire electrical system......
basic 12 volt wiring 101 and he failed to make the lights work.
i dont mind helping someone who really wants help.... however i dont believe that is this fella's main goal.
i think he gets off on the attention.
his threads go on and on and on with nothing ever getting solved even though he has been presented the answers many times.... still people try to help him and still he resists help and is argumentive about every single thing.
if he spent half the time working on the bike that he spends on this forum butting heads the bike would be in perfect shape by now.
i dont vote to ban him but i do vote to ignore him.
Ban the ASSHAT....We all have better things to do than help an owner who refuses to learn how to work on his own bike. Owners here have been very generous with their experiance and time trying to help an idiot. Thats all I gotta say about that!!!!!!

I decided to give irishluck a 7 day partial ban. He can still login to this forum and view posts - but he just cannot post himself. This will allow him some much needed time to re-read all of his threads for the answers to his problems.
This will also give some other forum members some time to vote - or change their vote...
The way he keeps on NOT getting the point makes me feel the guy is tweeking on something... Meth head or what ever. Give him his week and see what happens.
I have been watching these posts for 2 weeks now and nothing is going anywhere. In fact, the electronic problems have now morphed into carb problems.
Dude, put down the pipe, sober up and come back with what you have. If you are still under the influence, just don't bother.

It's amusing though. If that bike ever runs, and he rides as badly as he works on it, I'd wager he'd be dead inside a week.
It's not very amusing at all. The guy adds exactly nothing in terms of forum citizenship. He lies, is belligerently combative, seemingly intentionally obtuse, and unless I've missed something, has offered exactly nothing to anyone else besides a healthy does of acerbity.
I'm usually a live and let live kind of guy, but I voted to ban him permanently. For the record, I'll not be changing that vote.
Dan
I agree with Dan completely.
I tried to just ignore him and hope the troll would leave, but that didn't work.
He not only adds nothing TO this forum, he actively detracts from it.
We (and by that I mean I) don't need the headaches he brings to this list.
Arnie
You guys know, that Nick is home reading these posts and laughing his ass off.... (popcorn)
I voted to ban until puberty ends and hope for the best. He did seen mentally disadvantaged or perhaps a vitime of his parents breaking the biblical laws on marrying your first cousin or something, who knows as this is all a guess. :cray:

Should have cleaned the carbs.

As amusing as this thread is, I dont completelu understand why its in the Jokes section.. I too think we should ask Marsh to introduce a black hole thread that is moderated for all the useless threads and banterings and so on. I dont agree that it should be a thread purely for bashing though as I dont believe this FJ site is that kind of club, obviously its up to users discression as to who they wish to bash but it shouldnt be attacks - that should be reserved for pm-ing and alerting the mods, just my opinion but it may help.
I personally havent read any of irishlucks threads and judging from whats been said I dont really want to. We should put an end to a dying and rather pointless thread - i know ironic of me to keep it alive by posting it.
One thing I did realise is that I am 19 - i think the youngest on this site, and if I have ever asked incredibly stupid questions and pissed anyone off I apologise. I too am experiencing problems with my bike currently and I know very little as to what to do to solve it. Thats why I come here asking questions in search of answers and hopefully learning some things - which I have. I relate to irishluck in when I dont get the answer Im looking for Im rather stubborn at accepting it, but hell its my own fault then for not taking the advice then if something gets fubard. I try to take all the advice I can but being so young also limits me and I will admit I cant really afford to run an FJ - comfortable - not yet as I am still paying it off. It gets quite frustrating then when Im put into a situation where because I cant afford something I cant fix it and being young I am still impatient - although I think all guys would feel roughly the same?
To end off with, because I dont know much about bikes I still look to ways to add to the forum even if its just to second opinions or add a few random jokes to this thread.
As for banning irishluck well if he changes which looks to be the case I dont see any reason for it, although others will disagree. bottomline is most new fj owners come to this site looking for info and they find it. So Marsh thanks for having this site up. it really helps. Its a great way to meet people(even when ur in South Africa). Its a great place to share stories(thanks to lotsokids and klavdy for their adventure reports), not only about bikes but anything. To me it feels like more than just a bike site, it actually gives me something to look forward to during my day when I log on. As for knowing it all..
The wiser you get, the more you realise how little you actually know :hang1: :flag_of_truce:
To the rest of everyone on this site - Kookaloo :yahoo: and enjoy the ride :gamer: I still cant get over that word
