Title: DDM HID HARNESS
Post by: TEDZ on May 10, 2011, 08:14:58 PM
I'm installing a DDM 35 watt HID on a 1984 FJ1100.  It seems to be a car harness.  I'm thinking of cutting the harness side I don't use and seal off the wires with heat shrink tube to reduce wire clutter.  Anyone else do this with their install?  Also, did you use the longer or shorter harness.  Longer seems most logical, but in some things, what seems the logical choise isn't the best choise.
Thanks.

Doesn't matter which side of the harness you use since there is really not much of a load on it.

As far as cutting the harness, I just neatly laid out the extra along a frame rail (under the faring) and zip tied it up.  I think I used the long side since I put the relay box on one side and the ballast on the other.

Yes, I cut the extra light harness on two different FJ installations.  Cut it cleanly, and tape off and seal the ends (individually of course) and you are good to go.  Like Garth said, it does not matter whether you use the long or short side.
