I've got a pipe on the ZX9 that has an aluminum cannister. I've repacked it, though it's getting close to due again. It has the typical sound of an aluminum can though. If you've heard a carbon can, you've noticed how much lower pitched they tend to be, more throaty. I'm thinking the difference is because the metal version reflects sound back into itself, where the CF absorbs those high frequencies better.
I'm wondering if it's possible to use bedliner or something comparable within the can to provide a cushioning effect to the sound and calm things down a little? Anyone know of a product that would do something like this and withstand the heat?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree, and it's the hard metallic exterior of the can that causes the higher frequency sound to come through? In that case, I could likely find something to wrap it up. Any ideas, folks?
not sure bedliner material would take the heat from the inside but it may work on the outside to dampen the metallic noise.

We wrapped several item on our race car with carbon fiber sheeting....takes a torch to melt it down so i guess exh. temps wont hurt it...check product line here> www.carbon-fiber.us (http://www.carbon-fiber.us) You could wrap inside and outside......inside may be a little tricky to do.
