Title: Starting in gear
Post by: Ralph on April 11, 2011, 06:12:21 AM
Hello, I need some words of wisdom please.
What does it take to make a FJ start in any gear when the clutch is pulled in?

A good clutch, and a strong battery, and unplug the neutral safty switch :bad:

And the side stand up.
But do you want to do it that way?

I don't think he uses his side stand.

Hi Ralph,

there is a switch on the clutch master with two wires going to it.... either one of the wires has come loose or the switch is bad.  If the switch is bad you can connect the two wires together to defeat the clutch interlock function.

i know you just had the new motor installed so you might want to check the sidestand switch wiring to make sure it is  by passed/intact.

"unplug the neutral safety switch" Where would that be? I seen the neutral light switch or is that the same?
Side stand switch is jumped. What I want is for the bike to start in any gear if I pull the clutch in. Some times doing a 20mph bat turn the motor dies and it ain't cool trying to find neutral when you are showing your ass. :yahoo:

O Frank the new motor is much good me likes it a lot :good2:

If the sidestand switch is still bypassed then the two wires going to the clutch master are the next step.

just short them together to see if that fixes it.

if the bike will start in neutral then you must re visit the side stand switch again..... the clutch switch and the sidestand switch are the only two interlocks that will keep the bike from starting in gear.

does the neutral light come on when its in neutral ?
