Title: fj 1200 vs 1000

How would an fj1200 with pipes and appropriate getting fair against one of the newer bikes like a 600 or 1000 with same modifications, in a drag race?

It would depend a lot on the rider. Tie with a modern 600. The new 1000's would run away. Our FJ's are a 27 year old design. 27 motorcycle years is a VERY long time.

Depends on the bike and rider, but also on the prep of the machine.

For usual dragstrip bolt-ons, both the 600 and the 1000 will handily slaughter an FJ through the 1320 (gearing, strap, lowered, pipe, fuel adjustments).  Stock for stock, it could be a bit different, but not much--if both riders were fairly experienced.

A well-ridden 600 with a whole lot of gearing and slammed to the ground is a mid-low 10 second machine.  An FJ with comparable mods is a high 10 second machine.  A 1000 should be in the high 9's with the same prep.

Challenge them to a top gear roll on. You could even let the 600 use fifth.
