Title: R6 , R1 Handlebar Switches
Post by: RACER111V on April 04, 2011, 11:04:20 PM
With all the things I updated, I decided to get some switches that were made in this century. But I see that things have changed. The R1 starter switch doesn't allow for the headlight off feature when the button is pushed.I think I can get this to work with the headlight relays. The R6 hi/lo adds the high beam without shutting off the low beam.I'm not so sure this is a good idea with the FJ headlight.I don't think the auto canceling blinker feature will work with out adding a relay either. This one doesn't bother me because I am so used to turning them off myself.
What do you guys think,is it worth the work to keep all the features of the FJ ?

You ever gonna ride that thing or just keep on moddin' 'til next year? I say you've changed this much, why retain anything? I usually put my light switch between hi/lo and run both filaments on, haven't hurt anything yet, but also haven't calculated amp draw. Sometimes it's better to not know...
Is my '91 supposed to have "self cancelling" signals? Never noticed that.

No, they removed the self-cancelling feature before the '91 models :-(
I had it on my '81 XV1000 and really like it.
