I've just ordered a spin-on filter adapter from Randy. What filters are you blokes using with it? I don't think that the filters that Randy recommends are easily available in Australia? I'd like to use Ryco or some other readily available brand. Thanks and regards, Pete.
Any good parts store should have a parts interchange guide so if you give them a P/N for brand ABC they can give you a interchange for brand XYZ

Pete.... I'm using Purolator Pure One PL10193, but they are no longer available from what I have been able to find.
I'm down to my last one which will be good for one more oil change, then I have to find a decent replacement.
When this was discussed a few years back, the 2 important points raised were the filtration ability of the filter, and the location of the drain back holes in the canister. The Purolator seems to have been chosen as the best for both criteria. I bought a dozen of them 2 or 3 years ago.
Amsoil filters also fit the bill (just ask Ed), but they are not easy to find here in Aus, and you may need to take out a second mortgage to buy them!
So, as your post asks..... what's the consensus now guys?
Cheers
Harvy
Don't know if this is going to be any help, but I like using the NAPA Gold 1357.
Good quality filter, its black (matches the engine nicely) and is a smaller diameter that makes it easy to wrap your hand around for putting on and taking off without mashing the fingers.

I've had a glance at some cross over charts and Ryco suggests a Z411 or a Z429. These are a match to the Wix 51357 and Wix 51347 that Randy recommends. They fit some Mazda 626's and some Mitsubishi vehicles. I'm after a good reliable brand that are easy to source, that's the main reason I'm looking at Ryco. Other brands seem to come and go, as you have discovered, Harvy. Spare parts stores are few and far between down this part of the world, a 45 minute drive to the nearest one. There must be other FJer's in Australia using Randy's adapters, with filters that are available here.
Regards, Pete.
I've got Randy's spin-on filter adapter and I use a Fram PH3593A. Same filter as my wife's 1999 Honda Accord 4-cyl. I've seen them available damn near everywhere. They aren't black, so they don't "match" the engine (although I actually don't give a hoot about that). If you get "ExtraGuard" it comes in orange with a black, grip end. I think the "SuperDuty" or some other title actually has a white case, with the black, grip end. Wish it came in "manly pink" to match the stripe on my '91!
I use an amsoil EA020 filter. They cost more, but they're definitely worth it.

Pete, I use a K&N oil filter with Randy's adapter.
I can't remember which one, but it is on Randy's list. I bought mine at the Honda shop.
Bill.
I use a Bosch 3320. Already black.
