Looking for a pic of the underside of gas tank with the oem heat shield in place. I am replacing my dirty grungy tank with a nice clean one and need to put the heat shield material on new tank. I am going to pick up a sheet of heat shield material by "Moose Racing" but am not sure of the shape/size to cut. The material on my original tank was repaired by PO who "mickey moused" some foam and tinfoil and made a mess. This material has the adhesive on one side so I only have one shot to get it right.
If anyone has there tank off right now, a quick pic posted would be much appreciated.
Cheers...Jake

If you want a cheaper solution, hie thee to the local hardware emporium and procure a roll of self-adhesive, foil-covered foam pipe wrap (a plumbing item). Cut to length and shape; overlap the strips slightly. I've used this on the tank and belly fairing for years, with good success. One roll is more than enough to do both.

I need a new heat shield. Do you have a link to the one you got?
I picked up this heat shield from Royal Distributing here in Ontario. There is an outlet store here in Barrie. Made by Moose Racing. It is a good quality fiber lined foil material that looks to be very close to the original material used in the chin fairing.
Here is the link. Down near the bottom right of page. I think they ship everywhere.

Hopefully this link works for you....
