Title: GPS mount ideas
Post by: 3xwabs on March 05, 2011, 03:11:02 PM
Hi, be gentle with me - this is my first post on a forum.....
Can anyone help with advice on mounting a Garmin 2610 StreetPilot on my 3XW?  I'd like to mount it centrally on the top yoke and wondered if anyone has done this maybe via a bracket off the stem nut? Thanks!

Welcome to the group friend!

Ram mount makes all kinds of fittings....my buddy Eric made me a custom top nut but he followed a different path and used a longer bolt for the handlebar mount along with the ram hardware.
maybe he will post a picture.

here is mine when i was still running the 2610....

Ram mounts makes several options for mounting you gps.

I bought a few of their parts and was able to make a decent setup for a Garmin 260W for my FJ.

+2 on the ram mounts. I copied what Frank and Eric did, but drilled a a hole through the nut and mounted the screw/ball to that. Works like a charm. Now I need to upgrade my gps...the small screen is getting hard to read.....

Sucks to get older doesnt it Jake, sure beats the alternative..

Ram mount makes cradles for most of the gps units made these days..

That's exactly how I have my SP2820 mounted... I recommend a couple of thin washers inside the crown nut, as the top of mine is pretty thin stuff.

I also had to switch to the shortest RAM arm.  The 2820 is quite a chunk, and I was having to frequently re-tighten the thumb screw.

or like here, under the windscreen, protected from rain
and easy to look at it, just lowering the eye
