Heys guys, I just got a new Zero Gravity windscreen for my 86. looks good , the holes line up great, but the bottom corners dont fit down tight with the the fairing as they should. They stick up about 3/16 of inch and I dont like the way it looks. Was wondering if this is a common problem with after market screen. Does anyone know of a good way to heat and bend the corners down just a bit. Tried this on my old screen with a propane torch and there is a fine line when you have to much heat and not enough. Then I tried boiling water but it wouldnt get it hot enough . Any ideas? Thanks Craig

Well the hot water does work. I was trying to heat up the oem shield and it is alot thicker than the aftermarket shield so I got the corners down where they should be. There is quite abit of difference in oem and aftermarket screens I have found out. Craig

Plastic is routinely formed with an electric heating element or focused hot air that gently warms the plastic to a soft formable state. We bend up sheets of PolyCarb to make safety guards for our machines. You could use a heat gun and go very slowly to prevent burning and the dreaded bubbles. Protect the plastic where you don't want changes from the heat to prevent other unwanted shapes.
I want to say that I had a similar problem with a ZG windscreen. Take a good look at it and ensure that the shape is off and it's not actually fouling slightly. If I remember right, filing along the bottom edge and some of the screw holes allowed it to drop in and fit better.
I got one from powerbronze that doesn't fit too badly. The corners don't fit like the factory screen but the is liveable.
