Title: Fuel reserve control unit.
Post by: lebusker on February 09, 2011, 01:32:51 PM
Hi im a newcomer to this site  so first of all hello from Ireland.
I am looking for a fuel reserve control unit relay for an 87 1tx fj 1200 .
I am  of course willing to pay shipping along with the price asked for the relay.
The relay is located just behind the rear break master cylinder the lettering on my old one is as follows.
From the top  1TX-00
                  G&D-28Y
                  NTRON JAPAN
             PART NO 1616D2.
If someone out there has the part im willing to buy it allthe beat from Ireland.

first off wecome!

second the FJ "reserve" never worked worth a crap when the bike was new.... why would you want to spend any money on it ?

best bet is to unplug the gas petcock wiring connector and be happy it didnt make you walk!

Because he wants it to work, and hasn't given into despair yet.  :)  Correct answer is to redo the entire bloody fuel assembly on the bike, including the venting, petcock, pump (if desired), line routing, filters, etc etc etc.

Problem is I can't seem to figure out the proper part number for what you're looking for.  1TX-85740-00-00 maybe, but that's obsoleted and really expensive.  If it was mine and I desperately wanted it to work, I'd carefully sit down and work out the pinout and expected behavior of it, and substitute something else.  Should be someone out there who's got a parts bike or two, though the "introductions" forum is probably not the right place to ask.

And they say I'm the one who needs my coffee :)

(Well, it's true, but maybe I'm not the only one.  And my reserve, while a pretty silly system, works in the way it was intended.  :blum1:)

do you have a 86/7 model FJ ? Have you ever experienced it stopping your gas flow while you still have half a tank of fuel?
Have you read the reviews of that model when it was new and how even on a brand new FJ the system stranded the test rider ?

if not then STFU because you dont know what you're talking about.

Seems to me, on an open forum, it'd the "business" of whomever is reading this tripe.....  if you prefer to keep it private, maybe a "private" message would be appropriate.   (popcorn)

Frank-

You've written "STFU" multiple times to Andy for posts that were to someone else.  You have ripped into George, who's not even so much of a member here, more irrationally and emotively than any teenage girl I have seen, ALL COMPLETELY UNSOLICITED from what I can tell, and you tell me to 'mind MY own business'??

I am just not at all certain you could be more of a hypocrite if you tried, Frank.

Given the vitriol flying around here recently I'm reluctant to ask a stupid question.

Points taken.  I'm done with it.

Sorry to the newbies; we're not usually like this.  Maybe Klavdy is right about the cabin fever, there's been snow on the ground since before Christmas around here in the Philly area.
