Title: lurker
Post by: matkal on April 13, 2009, 09:48:07 AM
Hi all,
I came over from yahoo.....haven't posted in a while.
Sold my '90 FJ about a year ago but still like keeping up
with the discussions, etc.
I bought a BMW GS and enjoy it very much, great handling and comfortable(for my aging hips and knees :)  )
The thing I miss most about my FJ is the POWER!!
I really like this format!

Cheers
Matt   :drinks:

G'Day Mate, pretty sure I've been to that Dragline Bucket, unless its The Big Muskie Bucket.
Bristol - Reinersville, Ohio?
Or Cumberland, some where in S/E Ohio anyway.

Hmmm, I'm probably getting confused with the one in Nanango, Q.L.D.

BINGO!!
Klavdy wins! What, I don't know, but he wins!  :dance2:

Naturally, ours here in the States is much, much bigger!
Bit of a long ride for you, is that you in your pic?
It's about 5.5 hours from me, amongst the closest real twisties to where I live.

Hey Matt.. I've been FJ-less for 4 years and still a hanger-on.  Same reasons for jumping ship - comfort or lack of for my knees.  I thought hard about a GS and looked at a couple but my inner cheap skate won out and I bought a nearly new (900mi) '04 650 vstrom.  no regrets though - I really happy with it although still think the BMW is much cooler ride... It's the adv-class icon.  There's a few of us FJ alums out there on Adv styled bikes now from this group.. a GS, and a couple other vstroms and a new tiger.  Old people like leg room!

I miss the power sometimes too..  And it was a good looking bike.  It really hits me at rallies when surrounded by FJ's.

Yeah, even the Chinese are getting into the game with this 400cc:   :scratch_one-s_head:

ddlewis, On the GS I can go faster in the twisties(lots more ground clearance!) forget it on the straits though. :unknown:

Matt, yes... that's what I know

I ride in the extreme southern area of Ohio all the time. It's better than what is here locally near Huntington WV, the really good stuff in WV is a couplefew hours away. OTOH I can go into Ohio and be miles away from populated areas within a half hour or so, with curvy roads that are more than adequate.

I've been up there sorta in the area; rt 26 , 800, etc.. near Marietta.

I was hoping for specific info on what routes you ride when you go there and why  :bye:

thanks

555, 676, 78.
555: well, ya just gotta. Right?
676: Awesome rd. "boyitgobob" showed me that one(555 too).
78: We had driven this in a car on a family vacation and actually camped where "Big Muskie" is now. Always wanted to go back. Still do.

One of my faves, and you gotta remember I'm from MI where we have "311 miles and 12 curves", is the I-77 toll road through WV! 90-100mph sweepers and all three lanes!! WEEE!
